footage of Taylor Kinney back as Kelly Severide since the actor went on hiatus earlier this year. “I’m here. We’re in this together,” he tells his wife, Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo), before kissing her.

The actor, 42, who has played the beloved character since Chicago Fire premiered in 2012, took a leave of absence in January to “deal with a personal matter,” a source close to the production previously confirmed to PEOPLE, though no further information was shared at that time. In October, PEOPLE confirmed his return in season 12.

His character’s absence on the show was described as a last-minute opportunity for Severide to attend “the best arson investigation training program in the world.” But when the character didn’t return to Chicago after the program was supposed to have wrapped, his wife and fans alike were concerned.

Set to a melodic cover of “I Won’t Back Down,” the new promo also features footage from past episodes of the three shows in Dick Wolf’s One Chicago franchise on NBC.

One of the more memorable frames of the clip focuses on Tracy Spiridakos. News broke in October that the actress, who has played Detective Hailey Upton on Chicago P.D. since 2017, was leaving the show sometime during the procedural’s upcoming 11th season.

While Fire is getting Severide back, Firehouse 51 will be losing two of their own in the new season: Kara Killmer, who has starred as paramedic Sylvie Brett since season 3 in 2014, will be leaving at some point during the upcoming season, while Alberto Rosende, who has played firefighter Blake Gallo for four seasons, will take his final bow in the season premiere.

“When I decided to end my time with Chicago, it wasn’t easy,” Rosende wrote in his Instagram Stories. “The people I’ve met were truly special, the friendships I’ve made will last a lifetime, and the story I got to tell was one that made me proud. Can’t wait to see what else is in store and I wish everyone the best in shooting the rest of the season.”
