The new chief of Chicago Fire has been revealed, as Dermot Mulroney joins the cast.
Season 13 of the drama will kick off with a new leader, after Eammon Walker left his role as a series regular.
Walker plays Chief Wallace Boden, who was promoted to Deputy Commissioner
of the Chicago Fire Department (CFD) in the season 12 finale. Although Boden suggested Herrmann (played by David Eigenberg) would be his successor, the latter had to be promoted to captain and take the Battalion Chief’s test before taking command.
In the meantime, Mulroney will replace Boden as Chief Dom Pascal.
According to TVLine, Pascal will leave his role as chief in Miami to join the Chicago team. However, the character actually began his career with the CFD.
With a leadership style that is said to be different from Boden’s, will this lead to a difficult adjustment for the team?
Last season also saw the departure of two other series regulars. Paramedic Sylvie Brett (played by Kara Killmer) left the show after ten seasons, as she and fire chief Matt Casey (played by Jesse Spencer) finally tied the knot.
Meanwhile, firefighter Blake Gallo (played by Alberto Rosende) was unfortunately barely seen in season 12, as he moved away in the pilot episode to be closer to his family.
Elsewhere, Jocelyn Hudon has been promoted to a regular cast member for the upcoming season. After joining Firehouse 51 in season 12 as a freelancer, paramedic Lyla Novak has finally agreed to join Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith) as a full-time member of the paramedic team.
