12 cast assembles for an adorable recreated image to celebrate Kara Killmer’s last

first day as Sylvie Brett. On the heels of massive cast shake-ups for all three One Chicago shows, Chicago Fire is once again looking to say goodbye to one of its most veteran members. As previously reported, Killmer is expected to leave the first-responder procedural sometime in season 12. As the cast returns for Chicago Fire season 12 production, a new image of Killmer sandwiched between Miranda Rae Mayo and Hanako Greensmith is released, which is essentially a recreation of the trio’s photo from last year, as pointed out by @Learnthingss on Twitter. Check out the adorable snap below: Before the first-day image, Killmer, Mayo, and Greensmith had already shared an image of them during preparations to film Chicago Fire season 12. Since it will be Killmer’s last year as a series regular, more behind-the-scenes images are expected like this in the future.

For starters, she was faced with a big decision when she got the urge to adopt a baby that she and Violet delivered while on a call. Unfortunately, the process of adoption is tricky, but despite some hiccups, she eventually got a faster path to taking baby Julia after her birth mother finally agreed to make her the newborn’s legal guardian. As if that wasn’t emotionally taxing enough, her ex-boyfriend Matt Casey also got down on one knee and proposed marriage despite their tricky long-distance set-up.

Coming into season 12, it’s likely that Brett’s arc will primarily be about the fallout from Casey’s game-changing proposal. Whether she accepts it right away or not is difficult to say, but it’s worth noting that there’s currently no word if Jesse Spencer will be back on One Chicago. In any case, she will likely ultimately agree, which paves the way for her Firehouse 51 exit. Following Casey, Brett will move across the country to join him in Portland, Oregon. That’s the best way to write out the character given her current circumstances. Professionally, the image confirms that she will be back as Chief Boden’s primary paramedic, at least until she exits. The question is whether Chicago Fire season 12 will give Casey and Brett a wedding before they permanently leave. Their inevitable engagement will be a big cause of celebration for everyone at Firehouse 51. It’s difficult to imagine that Chief Boden wouldn’t want to at least throw them a party. It’s also a great way to send off two fan-favorite characters on a high note.
