the latest cast shakeup for the long-running show. Chicago Fire season 12 adds a new character

that’s played by a familiar face. The long-running first responder drama has seen a

string of recent cast changes ahead of its return to NBC. After a brief absence, Taylor Kinney is set to return to the One Chicago franchise as Kelly Severide. Meanwhile, Kara Killmer’s exit from her role as Sylvie Brett was announced in November. Alberto Rosende, who plays Brett Galo, was the next to confirm his departure in what he described as a difficult decision. In the latest One Chicago casting news, TV Insider confirms How to Get Away with Murder alum Rome Flynn is joining Chicago Fire season 12 as Jake Gibson.

The character is described as a “quietly confident former amateur boxer with a dark past.” He’s physically fit and fearless, gaining attention thanks to a heroic act. Flynn will make his debut in season 12’s second episode in a recurring guest spot that could expand in the future. Where You Know Chicago Fire’s Rome Flynn From After appearing in the 2014 TV movie Drumline: A New Beat and a role in A Madea Family Funeral that same year, Flynn’s breakout role came in 2015 when he joined the soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful as Zende Forrester Domínguez. The actor played the character until 2017. Before jumping to How to Get Away with Murder, arguably his most well-known role, Flynn made guest appearances on shows like NCIS: New Orleans and MacGavyer. On the ABC crime drama How to Get Away with Murder, Flynn portrayed Gabriel Maddox.

Beginning as a guest character in season 4 and then later joining the main ensemble for the final two seasons, Flynn got to share the screen with Viola Davis and held his own even as he was walking into a show that underwent several cast changes. More recently, Flynn had a lead role in the Prime Video romantic comedy series With Love and recurred on Grey’s Anatomy season 18 as Wendell Ndugu, the younger brother of Winston Ndugu (Anthony Hill). No stranger to long-running dramas, Flynn is boarding Chicago Fire season 12 at a time of massive casting overhaul. But given his resume, there’s enough to suggest that his mysterious new character could go on to become a regular and make up for some of the franchise’s recent high-profile farewells.
