out here! Chicago Fire saw a few cast changes in season 12 but none bigger

than in the finale. As he realized the driven Chief Robinson would be the wrong person to become Deputy Commissioner, Boden moved for the job himself. He ended up getting it, meaning he has to step down as leader of Firehouse 51. Eamonn Walker confirmed he will no longer be a regular on Chicago Fire, although there is a chance he can appear now and then as Boden adjusts to his new job. For the immediate future, Herrmann (David Eigenberg) was set to become the temporary new boss with Boden recommending him as his replacement. That’s a great evolution for the character, who has been through so much on the show.

There’s also Herrmann having some health issues like hearing loss so stepping away from the front lines to a more administrative role makes sense. There is an issue in that Herrmann still needs to be promoted to captain and take a Battalion Chief test first which means he can’t just slide into the role on a permanent basis. Thus, Firehouse 51 is getting a new Deputy Chief and it’s a face very familiar to TV fans. Who is the new Deputy Chief on Chicago Fire? Per TVLine, Dermot Mulroney will be joining in the season 13 premiere as Firehouse 51’s new Deputy Chief, Dom Pascal. The character is described as “from Miami, where he’s been a chief for a while, but he actually got his start with the CFD. His leadership style differs from that of the beloved Chief Wallace Boden.”

Mulroney has several movie credits like My Best Friend’s Wedding, The Wedding Date, and the recent box-office hit, Anyone But You. He also has scores of TV roles like Secret Invasion, Station 19, Hana, Shameless and The Purge. There’s the popular Internet game of “confusing” him with FBI: Most Wanted star Dylan McDermott as well, which the two actors have had fun playing with over the years. While Pascal looks to be a new regular character, it’s unsure if this means Herrmann’s dreams of becoming Deputy Chief are dashed. It’s possible Mulroney will only be on the show for a brief time to fill the slot while Hermann qualifies to take the battalion chief test. Given what a recognizable name and face he is, Mulroney is a good choice for a new boss and the obvious drama of the gang trying to get used to a new leader with a different style than Boden. With a great new star in the lead to spark up the show, Chicago Fire season 13 looks like it’s going to be as fun as ever when it hits this fall.
