Unlike the first half of the procedural’s Season 3 finale, the second part, “I’d Do It Again,” will see extremely high winds and dangerous conditions push the Zebel Ridge fire into Edgewater, threatening Three Rock and Walter’s (Jeff Fahey) care facility. It was directed by Bill Purple and written by Tia Napolitano. Furthermore, according to Thieriot, the fire in that part, which is on such a grand scale, could potentially impact the people involved forever going forward. The creator-actor also teased a “game-changer” cliffhanger that will “make an impact for sure.”

Max Thieriot Teases ‘Fire Country’ Season 3 Finale

Directing the last episode of Fire Country Season 3 was a “super exciting” experience for Thieriot, who also co-created the drama alongside Tony Phelan and Joan Rater for CBS. The TV icon detailed the process, which began with the team exploring varied ideas “for what that opening incident was going to be.” Ultimately, they settled on “the gas station thing” with Thieriot adding:

Meanwhile, filming the fire scene in that first half of the finale was very eventful, as revealed by Thieriot, who also noted, “We had the biggest explosion we’ve done on the show. But it was funny. It’s like now the third episode of Fire Country I’ve directed. First thing our special effects guys say is, ‘We’re going to make it big.’ And I’m like, ‘Sweet, let’s go.’”
