Just before the wedding, there were signs of trouble when Tom reacted negatively to Belle’s dress. Despite the love-bombing that followed, things took a dark turn on their wedding night. Belle ended up spending the night on the sofa, and that’s when the realization hit her: who had she married? The next morning, Tom apologized and promised it wouldn’t happen again, which set off a cycle of emotional manipulation.

A significant aspect we’ve explored is how technology is used for control in these relationships. This aspect has become increasingly relevant, especially since the pandemic. For instance, Tom has set up cameras and can see what Belle types on her laptop without her knowledge, showcasing a disturbing level of control that many might not recognize.
