After weeks of him having various medical episodes where he’d collapse and be surrounded by pills and visits from a mysterious doctor, the ITV soap revealed that Joe had chronic kidney disease and was in desperate need for a transplant.

Recognising that his best chances of finding a match would be from a family member, Joe opted to spike his half-brother Noah Dingle in the hopes he’d be able to help him.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t and the spiking led to a much more serious consequence as it caused the limo crash that left three villagers dead.

With Dr Crowley telling Joe this can’t happen again, Joe set his eyes on his uncle Caleb as a match. In order to ensure it would work this time round, Joe became Manpreet’s blackmailer threatening to expose her racy pictures.

In true soap drama, of course, Manpreet thinks Joe helped get rid of the blackmailer and he managed to convince her to help him in return by getting a sample of blood from Caleb.

Fast forward to last week, Joe instructed an accomplice to stab Caleb after trying to spike him failed. During the intense stabbing, Joe rushed him to Dr Crowley who was immediately concerned over Caleb’s condition.
