Coronation Street fans were left gobsmacked on Saturday when they made the surprising discovery that actor Liam McCheyne, who plays Dylan Wilson in the soap, actually has an identical twin brother named Connor.
The actor, 18, who has played Dylan since 2011, posed for pictures with his identical twin brother Connor at the 2025 The British Soap Awards.
The official Instagram handle for Coronation Street shared a snap of the brothers looking dapper in nearly matching suits at the glitzy event which celebrates Soapland’s finest.
Dedicated Corrie viewers will remember that both Liam and Connor shared the role of Dylan between 2011 and 2012, although it was Liam alone who returned to Weatherfield in 2020 to reprise the role.
While Liam continues to tread the cobbles, Connor seems to have hung up his acting shoes in favour of cricket, frequently updating followers with his sporting endeavours on Instagram, reports Leicestershire Live.
Social media was abuzz as fans expressed their astonishment upon learning about Liam’s twin brother.
Images surfacing from The British Soap Awards led one fan to comment in disbelief: “Omg I never knew!”
Others chimed in with revelations of their own, with comments like: “I didn’t know he was a twin” and exclamations such as “Oh wow… I never knew”, while one said, “Well I never knew that there was 2 of them” and another shared “Amazing, I would never be able to tell these two apart.”
It comes as Liam’s character Dylan is set for explosive scenes next week on the cobbles.
In the forthcoming episodes, a worried Sean Tully cautions Lou Michaelis that Dylan is due back from the STC tomorrow and he doesn’t want any trouble from her son Brody, who was inmates with Dylan at the STC.
Later in the week, Sean plans to celebrate Dylan’s release with a lunch at the bistro but Dylan suggests a more subdued lunch at the café instead.
As Brody enters the café, Sean assures Dylan that he’ll protect him but Dylan tells him it’s Brody who needs to be careful. What will happen when Dylan later follows Brody to the ginnel?
As the week concludes, Sean informs Dylan that he’s spoken to his college and they’re open to considering his return but Dylan dismisses the update.
Later on, Brody confronts Betsy Swain for reporting him to the police but as he steps towards her, Dylan intervenes. What will Dylan do and could he risk being sent back to the STC?
