going to die this season? Find out what’s in store for the character this season.

Does Darren Ritter Die in Chicago Fire Season 13?

The Chicago Fire Season 13 Episode 3 is titled “All Kinds of Crazy,” with the logline explaining, “Severide and Van Meter investigate a fire at a family-owned restaurant; Pascal questions Kidd’s leadership.”

The teaser video for the upcoming episode reveals that someone’s life is in danger. Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) calls for evacuation on the scene, but an explosion blows one of the firefighters out a window.

After he’s seen crashing to the ground, the words “one down” appear, followed by “one to go”… but what does it mean?

Pascal says, “You’ve broken my trust” to an unidentified person, adding, “And I’m dismissing you from this firehouse.” The teaser shows Kidd, Damon, and Severide — though it’s unclear if Pascal was speaking to one of them.

In a Reddit discussion about next week’s episode, fans weighed in with their best guesses about what might happen in Episode 3. Among the speculation, there was worry about Darren Ritter (played by Daniel Kyri). “I wonder if the fire on the promo where Ritter got hurt… maybe Damon didn’t follow orders again,” one person commented.

Another fan speculated, “So I guess Kelly investigates the fire after Ritter gets hurt. I’m interested in what leads to Pascal firing Damon. Or I’m assuming it’s Damon that gets fired. Maybe he finds out Kelly and Damon are brothers? Or maybe Damon screws up on a call.”

One fan noted, “There seems to be a lot going on next week between Ritter getting hurt, Kelly investigating the fire, Pascal questioning Stella’s leadership, and somebody getting fired.”

People also discussed the trailer for the upcoming episode in the comments section on YouTube. Most agreed that it looked like Ritter falling from the building. “Is that Ritter that’s down? I really hope not,” one fan said.

Another viewer pointed out, “If you pause the scene quickly and look real closely, you can almost clearly see it’s Ritter that is the fire fighter laying on the ground after being blown out of the building.”

In TVLine‘s Fall Preview 2024 Guide, showrunner Andrea Newman revealed that Ritter will have a lot going on in this season. “This is a big, Ritter-heavy season,” Newman said. Ritter has a lot of changes coming his way.”

In a September 25 interview with NBC Insider, Kyri gave just a glimpse of what to expect this season, but didn’t comment on his character’s fate. “We’ve got some new faces coming in Season 13, and there is some active clashing going on between characters that will leave our audience wondering who’s right and who’s wrong in these situations and interactions…,” he said. “To see how our characters either fall in line or kind of resist is going to provide some exciting heat this season for fans. So stay tuned for that because things get explosive.”
