Alexandra Breckenridge has shared her devastation at the loss of one of her close friends.
The Virgin River star announced her friend’s sad death on her Instagram Stories,
saying she felt compelled to share the news in thanks for Mental Health Awareness Month.
Addressing her followers in the video, the actress began: “I feel like this is probably not worth talking about but I just found out that I lost one of the closest friends in my life.
“She was like my sister. She was my sister for a really long time,” she continued, holding back tears.

“I just wanted to admit that it happened and I don’t know why on Instagram, but everything is so happy and joyful all the time and we don’t always have time,” the star explained.
While Alexandra didn’t share any details about the death, she did open up about her friend’s struggles with mental health. “I think one of the reasons I felt compelled to say anything was because May is Mental Health Awareness Month and my dear friend who passed away really struggled with mental health and depression,” the 41-year-old said.
“These are real things that happen to people, and when something as devastating as this happens in your life and you want to reach out and be there for someone, it’s always good to be reminded to reach out,” she continued. “You may not think anyone wants you to contact us, maybe they don’t, but maybe they needed you to.

“Anyway, mental health awareness month. May,” she added, blowing a kiss into the camera.

Alexandra’s sad news comes during the filming of the sixth season of Virgin River. Filming for the series began in February and is scheduled to end in May.

The new episodes will pick up several months after the events of the fifth season’s Christmas special, which ended with a major cliffhanger that resulted in Mel’s newly discovered biological father showing up at her door with “something important” to say.
While series six will focus on Mel’s relationship with her dad, the series will see Mel and Jack (Martin Henderson) continue their journey into parenthood.

Although Netflix has not yet announced a premiere date for the sixth season, we expect new episodes to arrive in early 2025.
The last few weeks have been a busy time for Aleksandra. She didn’t just film Virgin Riverbut she also announced her new podcast in April.
The actress started cooperation with her Virgin River co-stars Zibby Allen in the new project, and while the pair have remained tight-lipped about the podcast, they have revealed that fans can expect it to premiere in June.
