7 things that didn’t make sense in Emmerdale this week – from April’s thieving to Liam’s idiocy and one missing family member

Emmerdale has once again brought the drama this week – but it’s also brought a bit of nonsense too, right? There were several things that didn’t make sense to us, including theft at the vets again and Liam’s behaviour towards Ella.

So here’s our round-up of exactly what didn’t add up in Emmerdale this week.

1. Why has the vet surgery got NO security?

Once is a mistake, twice is downright stupid. So as if Marlon sneaking in and stealing ketamine from the vet surgery wasn’t bad enough, Rhona decided to ignore it and that in turn allowed April to break in and do the same thing!

April herself said it: you need better security.

And they really do. Come on, it shouldn’t be that easy to sneak into a locked surgery, open a locked medical cabinet and help yourself to drugs, should it? Especially not with the amount of recovering addicts in Emmerdale village, you’d think they’d be more safety conscious.

Emmerdale's Liam and Chas are concerned

2. Why didn’t Liam just block Ella’s number in Emmerdale this week?

Ella was harrassing Liam with persistent phone calls. Desperate to get his attention and prove she was innocent of drugging Chas, Ella was not getting through to Liam.

He was ignoring her and refusing to pick up, but the constant messages and calls were all too much. So John advised him to turn his phone off. Which he did. And then Chas overslept because apparently she doesn’t have an alarm, it’s all down to Liam’s phone.

But why didn’t he just block Ella? He didn’t need to turn it off and cause Chas all this fuss. He could have just blocked Ella’s number and got rid of her. Simples. But then again, Emmerdale does like to overcomplicate things, don’t they?!

3. Joe flew away

He’d just had organ transplant surgery, yet Joe Tate was able to get on a plane and fly to Dubai. Dr Crowley did make a half-hearted attempt to tell him he couldn’t fly so soon after major surgery, but Joe just dismissed him with the explanation he had medics on standby in Dubai.

Riiiiggght. Because they’d be able to save you in time if something happened mid-air. It’s no wonder Kidney Research UK is unhappy with this storyline. Here’s how Emmerdale should be doing it, if the soap is interested.

4. Where did Marlon get a tracker in Emmerdale this week?

Maybe it’s just us, maybe we’re the only ones who don’t happen to have trackers on hand, because they seem pretty easy to come by in Emmerdale. True, they’re probably on next day delivery from a popular online shop, but Marlon didn’t seem to have ordered it and wait for it to be delivered. He just had one.

Maybe Pollard’s shop doesn’t just stock eggs and milk anymore, maybe it’s the gateway to all Emmerdale’s tracking needs?

5. Nicola thinking she could go on a cruise

Gosh, wouldn’t it be lovely to ditch real life and go on a world cruise for three months? We’re jealous of Brenda and Cathy to be honest. But we’re also not quite sure how Nicola thought she could do it!

She’s a mum with three school-age kids, one who’s recently been released from a secure unit, she runs two businesses in the village and yet she seemed to think she could just drop everything at a moment’s notice and swan off for three months.

It’s bad enough that Brenda has gone at the drop of a hat and left her business without one half of its ownership. But Nicola didn’t even consider her kids for a minute. It’s a good job Brenda didn’t make her her plus one.

6. Why does Kim want Dawn and Billy together so badly?

Kim Tate is not a woman to be triffled with – especially by a man. Hell, she’s offed more men than we’ve had hot dinners. So why is she so hell bent on keeping Dawn and Billy together?

They have zero chemistry, barely even like each other and we honestly can’t bear any more of either of their monotone whining – and Kim lives with them! Surely she’d be team split them up so she can get some peace?

True, Joe is not a better option for Dawn – he’d drop her like a sack of hot potatoes as soon as another woman with better dress sense came along – but we’re not here for dreary Dawn and Billy either.

Nicky Miligan in Emmerdale

7. Where was Nicky Miligan in Emmerdale this week?

Recently the Miligans have been through it. Ruby admitted she was sexually abused by her dad, Anthony, discovered he was daughter Steph’s biological father and then killed him. Steph found out everything, the Anthony murder club have been struggling to keep their secret together and then Caleb got stabbed. He lost a kidney in what he thinks was the result of the attack, but was actually half-nephew Joe Tate stealing his organ to have a life-saving transplant.

Caleb also recently discovered his wife and brother had a hook-up and is slowly trying to forgive them both.

It’s a lot, right. A. LOT.

So where is son Nicky in all of this? If our dad was stabbed and at death’s door, we’d have been on the first plane home. Similarly, we’d have supported our beloved mum when her abuse secret was revealed.

But not Nicky. He’s too busy swanning around San Francisco to even FaceTime and check in. And he had the nerve to call his parents selfish. Take a look in the mirror, mate.
