The One Show viewers were left distracted by the transformation of an EastEnders star, who they say appeared ‘unrecognisable’.

Soap legend Jo Joyner was a far cry from her Albert Square days as she gears up for her role in the new Paramount Plus thriller Little Disasters.

Best known for her portrayal of Tanya Branning on EastEnders, Jo graced Tuesday’s (May 13) episode of BBC The One Show alongside co-star Diane Kruger to discuss the upcoming series.

Those tuning in at home were quick to spot the actress’s fresh appearance, particularly noting the shift from her trademark blonde locks to a striking brunette hue.

Audiences didn’t hesitate to voice their opinions, with one viewer posting on X, previously referred to as Twitter: “Jo Joyner has dyed her hair brown and didn’t recognise her at first. She looks great. #TheOneShow #EastEnders.”

Little Disasters follows four friends embarking on motherhood when turmoil strikes. Diane Kruger plays Jess, a stay-at-home mum, who rushes her infant to hospital due to a mysterious head injury, reports Plymouth Live.

This leaves her pal Liz, embodied by Jo Joyner, who’s an AandE doctor, entangled in moral conflict. Liz faces the excruciating decision: trust her best mate or inform social services?

A single call from Liz sets in motion a cascade of events that could fracture their close-knit circle. Discussing her character’s challenging choice, Jo shared: “It’s definitely a difficult decision because Liz is kind of hard working, she says it how it is, she’s worked her way up and she thought and feels that Jess is the ultimate perfect mother.

“Because Jess is the one that is always getting it right and she always goes to her for advice because she is always getting it right and I’m getting it wrong.”

She added: “They’re really close friends so when Jess comes in with her baby and can’t explain it, she (Liz) is very torn because she has a protocol to follow and a job to do so really she needs to raise the flags because something is not adding up.”

The programme’s summary also discloses: “Each of the women harbours judgments about each other, but these ultimately become judgments about themselves, all secretly whispering the same insidious question: Am I a bad mother?”

The synopsis concludes with a hint of mystery: “In a desperate search for the truth, everyone comes to question what really happened to Betsey, and what Jess’ family is truly hiding.”
