John Sugden has been revealed as a creepy killer who puts people in life-threatening situations so he can then swoop in, save the day, and be hailed the hero!
We’ve all suspected for ages that something was up with John. Since the time he arrived in Emmerdale, we’ve known there was more to the newcomer than met the eye. And now we know the truth!
He killed Nate Robinson – accidentally, admittedly, but he still did it! He drugged Chas, broke the window at the pub, and cancelled her wedding, and pinned it all on Ella.
And he swapped coffees with Jacob and caused him to have a life-threatening allergic reaction to the nut milk.
But though we now know a lot more about John that we did at the start of the week, we’ve got quite a few questions that we need answers to!

1. Is he really John Sugden?
Jury’s out on this one. On one hand, Eric knew of his existence when he went to his mum Barbara’s funeral. On the other, John wasn’t actually AT the funeral – he was just loitering outside.
He’s definitely like a Sugden in his mannerisms and his still, watchfulness that both Jack and Robert shared. But that proves nothing.
i hope john’s secret is that he has an entirely different identity cos that man will NEVER be a sugden to me

2. Who’s in the bed?
In this week’s episodes we saw John visit someone in hospital. It was a bearded man, who appeared to be in a coma. So who was he?
We know John’s history with Aidan Moore – his army friend, turned lover, who he couldn’t save. But he let us – and Aaron – believe Aidan was dead. Could he have been fibbing about that? Perhaps it’s Aidan in the hospital bed?
Or some fans think the patient could be the acutal John Sugden! Perhaps there’s been an identity swap and it’s John who’s in a coma while someone else – Aidan? – is swanning around the village pretending to be him.
And there’s an even more outlandish theory from some viewers! They reckon the person in hospital could be Jamie Tate!
IS THIS THE REAL JOHN SUGDEN!!?? WHAT ABOUT AIDAN MOORE? SOMEONE ELSE? WHO?#Emmerdale pic.twitter.com/i6xqO4gOtC

So is that the real John Sugden or is that Aiden Moore. Leaning towards John but could be either #BigBadJohn #Emmerdale

3. What happened to Aidan Moore?
John told Aaron and Victoria about his former lover Aidan – the man whose dog tag he has kept.
Aidan was John’s best friend in the army. They served together in Afghanistan and they fell in love – secretly.
But their romance ended in tragedy when a bomb went off as the soldiers were playing football.
John told sister Victoria what had happened, sharing that he’d tried his best when Aidan begged him to save his life.
“I told him I could but I was lying, I had to,” he said to Vic. “I could see the fear in his eyes. I held his hand as he slowly slipped away.” And he added: “Aidan thought I could save him and I let him down. I can never forgive myself for that.”
BUT, he never actually said he’d died. So it could be Aidan in hospital.
We’re wondering if John’s failure to save Aidan means he keeps trying to save everyone else – even though that means he puts them in dangerous situations first. Victoria said this week that him saving Jacob should remind him that he can save lives. Is this the key to John’s killer instincts?
4. How many times has John Sugden done this before?
When Meena Jutla came to Emmerdale she’d already done away with her dad and her best friend Nadine – and she had her souvenirs in her first aid tin to prove it!
Is it possible that if Aidan is one of John’s victims, he’s not the only one?

5. Did he really bury Anthony? Is Anthony really dead?
Right, listen up. We’re thinking the whole Anthony sitch could have appealed to John’s God complex.
What if instead of him hurting him and saving his life to soak up the praise, he saved him and pretended he was dead?
As seasoned soap fans we’re always suspicious when someone ‘dies’ without us seeing the body. And the way John hid where he’d buried Anthony for so long made us wonder if he’d really buried him at all. And now the flowers have been delivered from Anthony… Could Anthony still be alive?
6. Did John Sugden kill his mum?
John’s arrival coincided with the funeral of his mum, Barbara. Could she have been one of his victims?

7. Who’s next on his hit-list?
John definitely seems to have beef with Chas, so we reckon she should watch her back. Then there’s Aaron. He and John are all over each other at the moment but what if he gets too close to the truth?
Liam could be in danger too. We thought he gave John a slightly knowing look when he saved Jacob. Will he be watching closely from now on?
And any of the people involved in Anthony’s death probably need to be careful as well. Ruby, Caleb, Steph and Cain could all be at risk.
Plus, we reckon (well, to be honest, we’re slightly hoping) that Jai could be in danger. He’s already poking around in Anthony’s affairs. What if he uncovers more than he bargained for?
