Robert’s attack on Victoria could land him back in jail – but Emmerdale spoilers show John has far worse planned for him

Robert may have spent the majority of tonight’s Emmerdale episode talking about how he doesn’t want to go back to prison, but his attack on Victoria could have led him straight back.

He’s back in the village for good. But settling into life outside of prison is already tough for Robert Sugden, as he is plagued with nightmares of his time inside. And despite wanting to focus on his future, he accidentally lashed out at Victoria.

As if John Sugden doesn’t have enough ammunition to want him out of the village already, things get worse for Robert when John spots the black eye on Victoria.

Robert attacked Victoria

After Victoria pointed out that Robert hadn’t been sleeping, he began to open up about having nightmares. Instead of talking about it though, he just wanted to find a job and stay out of prison.

He went to see Caleb Miligan and tried to hide the fact he was in prison. But Cain had already told Caleb everything about Robert, and he told him to leave.

But Robert being Robert didn’t go anywhere. Instead, he continued to talk with Caleb about why he deserved to work with him. And in the end, Caleb agreed.

The pair headed to the pub to celebrate – while Aaron, John and Vic were getting some dinner. Robert tells them the good news, leaving John angry and Aaron trying to hide his smile (we know you’re happy to see him, Aaron). But Vic managed to convince Robert they can celebrate at the house.

Alone, she tried to get him to talk to her about what happened in prison. And she told him she didn’t want him to end up back inside. She headed to get some champagne to celebrate, leaving Robert to take a nap now that he knows he is safe.

However, when she got home he was still sleeping and she popped the bottle. We then heard Robert’s nightmare get progressively worse and when she tapped his leg, he lashed out thinking he was still inside.

Very quickly coming to his senses, he tried to apologise. But Victoria was horrified and told him to leave.

While it could easily land him back in prison, spoilers show he actually ends up in evil John’s grasp.

John gets Robert where he wants him

Spoilers for next week show that Robert is consumed with guilt over what happened. And he ultimately decides it is best if he moves out. However, that decision just makes Victoria more worried about him.

John, already wanting rid of his half-brother, heads to Caleb’s to pressure him into stopping Robert’s trial shift. In the end, Caleb breaks the news to Robert. And Jai lets slip it was because of John – leaving Robert fuming.

When John spots Victoria’s black eye, he ties to persuade her to go to the police. Robert overhears Victoria and John’s conversation in Emmerdale, and is sent spiralling with fear of ending up back inside.

He goes on to drown his sorrows with alcohol and hook-ups. But things take a turn when he gets drugged by his date, while John watches on.

Playing the hero, John intercepts and gets his unconscious brother in the back of his van. When the coast is clear, he pulls out a syringe and stands over Robert.

What else happened in Emmerdale tonight

Robert’s just back in the village, so it’s not really a surprise that Emmerdale tonight focussed on him (yay). But there were some other things that happened in the village.

John was worried and Aaron tried to hide his smile

Ever since Robert appeared at their wedding, John deep down has known that it’s inevitable Aaron will end up back with him. And it makes him angry. When in the pub, he told Aaron they should do something about it, but Aaron just felt like they should leave it and eventually Robert would leave. Things got worse for John when he heard Robert was staying at Victoria’s house. But while he looked annoyed, Aaron looked as though he was trying to hide a smirk (we see it).

Sarah and Charity disagreed in Emmerdale tonight

After discovering Sarah’s cancer, Charity was trying to make sure she was okay. Sarah was shocked to hear she was going with her to her surgery, but ultimately realised it was for the best. When she saw Sarah working at the garage, though, things got heated between them. Charity felt Sarah should be taking things easy instead of working. But Sarah wanted to keep busy. In the end, Charity headed to give Cain a piece of her mind.

Cain and Moira found out the truth in Emmerdale tonight

Moira was worried about Cain after the incident yesterday. And she kept telling him that they should be grateful to John (If only you knew, Moira). Cain took the day off work, and got Sarah to cover. But Charity stormed in, realising he wasn’t actually sick. She began just telling them that he shouldn’t be throwing his work to Sarah, but they realised something more was going on. And so Charity spilled the truth about their grand-daughter’s cancer diagnosis. Cain and Moira wanted to find a way to help, but Charity insisted they let her speak to Sarah first – which didn’t go well. And it became clear Cain was struggling with this news, along with Nate’s death.

Paddy recruited Bob to help with Bear

Something is going on with Bear. And we still don’t know what exactly it is. But Paddy is worried about him. So, he enlisted Bob’s help to cheer him up. They tried to get him to open up, but Bear realised what was going on and stormed out. Paddy rushed after to apologise, but his dad just told him he was making things worse. What exactly is going on with Bear?
