Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd left a hilarious response as he was seemingly left out of the long-running show’s Father’s Day message.

The actor is famed for playing David Platt in the ITV soap, and recently celebrated 25 years in the role having made his debut back in 2000.

As fans will know, David has been a step-dad to difficult Max Turner, who is now in prison for setting their family home on fire in a botched insurance job, and dad to daughter Lily, both of whom he shared with late wife Kylie Platt.

But when Corrie sent a special message to Weatherfield’s finest dad’s over the years, David didn’t make the cut. First up was Tyrone Dobbs with his beloved father figure, Jack Duckworth.

There was also an appearance from Dev Alahan with his twins, Asha and Aadi, Roy Cropper being a father figure to his neice Nina Lucas following the death of her own dad, Roy’s brother, and finally Billy Mayhew, who is Summer Spellman’s guardian.

Alongside the post, the caption read: “Happy Father’s Day to all the Father figures out there. Sending love from everyone here at Coronation Street [heart emoji] #Corrie #FathersDay.”

And Jack’s comment left fans in stitches as he replied: “What am I? Chopped liver?!”

@its_nicoleeemc replied: “David Platt is a legend. He should be included.” @neilcairns commented: “Yeah, David the Dog too.” @luccavalentino99 joked: “Done you dirty there.” @chlo.emhill07 added: “Poor David.”

It comes after Jack previously opened up about his time on the show. “I was only in the show for three months originally, and then they kept ringing my mum up and my agent to say, ‘Yeah, we’ll extend it’.,” he revealed to the Manchester Evening News.

Jack, who was 16 when he took on the role, went on: “So 25 years is a long time for anyone, but I get yearly contracts now; I don’t get three-month ones.”

He added: “I’m only ever here for a year, and it runs out this year! I don’t know, they might not continue it, they might go for someone else. But I’m still enjoying it.”

But he made clear he doesn’t mind the regular contract updates and seemingly suggested his future does remain at Corrie as he shared: “So I think it works in both of our favours. If it ends up being another 25 years I don’t mind, as long as I’m still happy, that’s all matters.”
