The following contains spoilers from the April 25 Season 3 finale of CBS‘ Fire Country.
Fire Country‘s XL Season 3 finale was a veritable five-alarm fire, ultimately leaving the lives of no few than three characters in question.
But as reported by our sister site Deadline, it’s looking especially bleak for one of those characters, seeing as Billy Burke, who plays Vince, is exiting the CBS drama after three seasons.
Additionally, Stephanie Arcila is also done as a series regular, though producers hope her Gabriela might pop up now and again as a guest star.
What all set up these two original cast members’ exits? Well…
HOUR 1
The first hour brought news that although there was talk that Finn had fled town, he in fact was still in Edgewater — spotted by Manny, lurking around 42. Finn sped away, but Bode spotted him shortly after at a filling station. Seeing Bode and hurrying away, Finn left the gas pump nozzle in his tank, ripping it off and sparking a fire as he drove off. Bode and then an arriving Manny were left to deal with the gas station fire — including the fact that a teenage girl was trapped inside, and the discovery of a rack of propane tanks in the line of fire — until Vince, Jake, and Eve with Three Rock rolled up.
With virtually everyone busy with the gas station, only Audrey was on hand to sit with Gabriela at the Leone house, hiding from Finn. Alas, just as the gals realized that Finn had been tracking Gabby using a phone he gifted her, who sauntered into the room but the stalker himself. With a gun. Audrey eyeballed Gabby’s pistol, peeking out of a nearby purse. And though she and Gabby worked to distract Finn enough for Audrey to reach for that gun, it was for naught. Finn caught on, and used a taser to KO Audrey.
Back at the filling station, the lack of a water supply created problems. The truck line just wasn’t getting it done, so Vince had Jake use the booster to tamp down the roof fire long enough for Bode to get inside and, moments later, heroically carry out the trapped girl, all slow motion-style. Alas, Bode wrenched his knee up again, causing Vince to bench him as 42 turned around to deal with a Zabel Ridge Fire that’s on the move. Bode didn’t stay put for long, though — Walter “ordered” him into action after observing the wind change outside the memory care facility window, meaning the Zabel Ridge Fire is heading straight for Edgewater.
Manny meanwhile went to check on Gabriela, who last we saw was being really freaked out by Finn, while Audrey started to come to. Gabby saw a moment to reach for her gun, and a struggle ensued. Pulling up outside, Manny heard a gunshot. When he busted the front door open, he saw Finn on the floor, with a gunshot wound to the chest… and Gabby holding the gun, with Audrey behind her.
HOUR 2
With the Zabel Ridge Fire spreading, Three Rock itself was soon surrounded by flames, and Eve and her team did their best to save their camp with no engine support. But even a bucket brigade brainstormed by about-to-be-paroled Cole could make a dent, so Three Rock fell back and let the camp be consumed.
Manny snapped Gabby out of her daze and got her to fixing up Finn best she could, but his sucking chest wound needed proper care. With Gabby and Audrey tending to Finn in the back of Manny’s truck, Manny tried to drive them to a hospital, but the roads were blocked. Along the way, Manny overheard a woozy Finn accuse Audrey of shooting him. A flashback revealed that after Finn lobbed Gabriela across the room, Audrey came to, grabbed the dropped gun, stood up and put a bullet in his chest — aiming to kill. Audrey confessed as much to Manny, but once they arrived at Buena Vista to get Finn medic help, Audrey turned herself in claiming self defense.
The scene at the Buena Vista all along was mayhem. At first, Bode and Walter spent a lot of time hunting for Walter’s pal Otto, eventually finding him sheltered in a closet. But then Bode’s knee gave out, lugging Walter through the halls. Vince and Sharon arrived on the scene and, leaving Jake in charge, dashed inside to find Bode and Walter, and that took some time. Once they did, Walter then went missing. Vince found Walter, but before they and Sharon could find their way outside, the roof collapsed, as a horrified and helpless Bode watched from outside….
