Coronation Street fans have cast their verdict over Abi Webster’s impending ‘affair’ as they don’t think she’ll be able to continue to resist her brother-in-law’s advances.

Abi was stunned last month when she was introduced to Carl by Kevin and Debbie Webster as their little brother. That’s because she had earlier experienced a charged moment with him in Freshco’s car park.

Fans of the ITV soap will recall that Carl appeared in Weatherfield for the first time, having only ever been mentioned by name in the show, after a minor collision in Frescho’s car park with Abi who he didn’t know is his sister-in-law.

Abi wasn’t impressed with the stranger as she tried to be there for her husband, Kevin, during his cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment.

After getting into a heated argument, Abi ended up hitting Carl, giving him a bloodied nose. They decided to call it quits as she insisted the dent in the back of her car was down to him. As they headed in their own directions, Abi was soon helping Carl after his car wouldn’t start.

But after some flirtatious looks and sarcastic remarks, there was clearly a spark between the two and Carl asked to take Abi out for a drink, despite her insisting she was married.

Fast forward and the pair came face-to-face again when Carla arrived in the Bistro to surprise his family. Since, Abi has clearly struggled with Carl’s presence.

But during Wednesday’s (June 4), Corrie, fans saw Carl continue to flirt with Tracy Barlow, much to Abi’s annoyance. Tracy teased that she could soon find herself as a Webster too, but Abi tried to put her off Carl.

Later, Carl approached Abi and asked her why she was trying to put Tracy off him. The tension between the pair was clearly rising and they almost kissed, but a phone call from the hospital stopped them from doing so, with Abi finding out that Kevin had collapsed while at the hospital for his latest round of treatment.

Having rushed to Kevin, it was once they were both back home later that Abi warned Carl to stay away and leave her alone. And many Corrie fans aren’t impressed with Abi’s actions.

@pjv_theoutcast said: “Seriously can’t Kevin get a break and Abi should know better.” @spookymisfit wrote: “How could they when Kev is so unwell.” @hannah_smith231 commented: “They worked so hard getting back together after she slept with Imran, give abi n Kevin a break.”

@chattymandan fumed: “Abi cheating on kev with his own brother Wtaf when he’s going through cancer and how can his brother do that to him yet another cheating storyline can’t they keep it in there pants and let couples be happy #corrie

However, not everyone agrees. @jjessiicarose posted: “I am dying to see what happens between Abi and Carl but I also feel so bad for Kevin #corrie.” @x.n4talie shared: “Get them together.”

Some also predicted how their affair, if it were to happen, could be exposed. @RyanSoapKing25 shared: “Tracey is definitely going to expose Carl and Abi’s affair I can just see it #Corrie.” @johnneladderley added: “I can already tell this is going to be a long and drawn out storyline. Sneaking around, and then when they get caught there’s the messy divorce…”
