Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) makes a shocking discovery in Coronation Street next week, and her determination to get to the bottom of things leads her and Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) straight to Highfield Prison.
It all starts when the pressure of Craig Tinker’s impending memorial gets to Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers), and she decides to try and take her mind off it by going through some old files.
When Betsy stumbles across them and begins to snoop, Lisa snatches the file away, leaving Betsy intrigued.
Suspicious, she confronts her mum about the contents of the file, and Lisa is quick to try and convince her that it’s about her paternity, and she can’t see it until she’s 18.
However, Betsy isn’t satisfied with that response and can’t resist the urge to find out more.
When Carla Connor (Alison King) later arrives home, she catches Betsy rummaging through the files – but what has the teen uncovered?
Betsy is quick to involve Lauren in her quest for the truth as she shows her a picture of a letter she managed to snap, and reveals that she plans to get to the bottom of things.
The first stage of the girls’ plan begins when Betsy brushes off Lisa’s suggestion that they meet for lunch, telling her that she’s made plans with Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne).
However, when she and Lauren jump in a cab, it is the prison they ask to be taken to.
In the visiting room, Betsy admits that she’s a nervous wreck – but who is she meeting, and what exactly does she want to find out?
Meanwhile, Lisa and Carla get quite the shock when Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) lets slip that Betsy didn’t meet Dylan for lunch because she ordered a taxi to Highfield Prison.
