Dawn pushed Joe in Emmerdale, she revealed to Billy this week, leaving us – well, a bit disappointed after all that build up. We thought there might be more to it than boring Mrs Fletcher having her feathers ruffled by her secret lover.
But sadly it wasn’t to be,
Meanwhile, Mack was getting mucky thanks to John, and DS Desari was proving exactly why he’s not been promoted in 20 years.
Here’s what we thought of the action in this week’s Emmerdale review.

Dawn pushed Joe!
So the big reveal this week was that Dawn pushed Joe.
After Joe’s dramatic plunge last week, we were expecting a long drawn-out whodunnit. But to our surprise, Dawn revealed that she was the one to shove her lover from the window in revenge for the way he treated Clemmie.
For a while we thought Dawn was covering for someone. We actually thought it might have been Clemmie who gave Joe the shove he deserved. In fact, we hoped it was Clemmie because she totally needs to get her own back on Mr Tate after how cruel he was to her! But sadly, it seems Dawn was telling the truth: it was her who pushed Joe.
Billy gave Dawn an alibi then quickly regretted it when she revealed she still loved Joe. In fact, her pushing Mr Tate out of the upstairs window doesn’t seem to have affected their relationship one jot.
Which is confusing.

Joe being awful
Another thing that seems unaffected by Joe’s accident is Joe himself.
Despite being unconscious at the start of the week, and still bed-bound by the end, it seems Joe’s not learned any lessons about being a nicer person. It’s just back to normal for Mr Tate.
He’s still unapologetic about the whole stealing the kidney thing. He’s manipulating Billy. Paying off Noah. Charming Dawn. It’s like nothing’s changed.
We’re not sure how we feel about that, to be honest. It feels a bit, well, anticlimactic.
Dawn skulking
Has there ever been anyone who looked more guilty than Dawn has this week? The way she skulked into Joe’s hospital room, slipping round the door, John-Sugden-style would have made anyone suspicious. We’re frankly amazed that Joe and Dawn’s affair stayed secret for so long because she’s a terrible liar.

The police are rubbish!
Mind you, we’re not sure Dawn’s inability to lie is going to be a problem because oh my goodness, the police investigating Joe’s accident are awful. With DS Desari’s poor track record, we shouldn’t be surprised that he’s so rubbish, and yet he’s proving worse than we could have imagined.
Top of Desari’s suspect list this week was Noah. That’s right, Noah Dingle who was – admittedly – spiked by his half-brother which does give him a motive. But who also literally called the police about it.
He’d hardly have done that if he was planning to take things into his own hands, would he?!
Plus, are we forgetting that JOE STOLE A KIDNEY. Have the police just decided not to investigate any of that? We know Noah (foolishly) withdrew his statement, but come on. They’re not even trying. Maybe they should have a chat with PC Swirling? He knows everything there is to know about the Emmerdale residents.

Mack v John
Away from the Joe drama this week, we learned a lot more about slurry than we ever thought we would need to. And the Mack v John brinkmanship has left us in a curious position.
Here’s the problem. John is twisted and sinister. Evil, even. He’s a killer and he’s keeping some pretty huge secrets, and we absolutely don’t think Aaron should marry him.
Mack is spot on when it comes to his misgivings about John.
BUT Mack’s insufferable. He is so very, very annoying, and ridiculous and did we mention annoying? And because of all that we find ourselves wanting to root for evil killer John instead. In fact, if John fancied taking out Mack, we wouldn’t be upset. Just saying…

Meet Lewis Barton
No, we’re not sure how come there’s another Barton brother we’ve never heard of. Emma Barton never thought to mention her fourth son in her years in Emmerdale. But that aside, Lewis seems nice enough. We’re reserving judgement for now, though, just in case he turns out to be a serial killer, or or a long-lost child/sibling/nephew of someone else in the village who’s back for revenge. Or just really boring.
