Coronation Street fans joked they were willing to ‘look past’ DC Kit Green’s blunder as his relationship with DS Lisa Swain has been addressed.
As fans of the ITV soap know, Kit, played by Jacob Roberts, arrived last year, having been found by his biological mother, Bernie Winter.
It didn’t take long for him to ruffle feathers, first punishing Bernie for giving him up for adoption as a baby, before upsetting a number of other Weatherfield residents.
Meanwhile, Lisa, played by Vicky Myers, has faced her fair share of drama in her role as Weatherfield police’s top detective sergeant, making her first appearance in the long-running show back in 2021.
And it’s been clear the the two detectives, in different ranks, often struggle to see eye-to-eye, with Kit particularly eager to get ahead of Lisa when it comes to his policing career.
But things took a turn during Friday’s (May 16) edition of Corrie, as Lisa had to pull out her authority when she caught Kit getting into a fight with Mick Michaelis.
The special episode featured flashback scenes, in which viewers were let into what happened between Kit and Mick as teens, after it was previously revealed their pasts were intertwined.
Mick and his wife Lou, played by Joe Layton and Farrel Hegarty, were previously revealed as part of a new family set to shake things up for the other residents.
They moved into Mawdsley Street at the back of Chesney and Gemma Winter-Brown’s house, which is the first time ever Corrie have extended the serial drama across the ginnel in a history-making move.
At the time of Mick and Lou’s arrival, it was confirmed that the pair will be central to revealing Kit’s past. Months on an everything unfolded during the special flashback episode on Friday.
A return to 2007 revealed that Mick and Kit were good friends as youngsters, with them getting up to plenty of mischief, as teens do. However, things escalated dramatically when a shopkeeper made derogatory comments about Kit’s birth mother, Bernie, and he decided to get revenge.
With Mick’s help, he lit fireworks and pushed them through the letterbox of the store – unaware that there was someone inside. Kit was horrified when he suddenly heard screaming coming from inside, with the shopkeeper’s wife was trapped. When the shopkeeper arrived, he was quick to blame Mick, giving Kit the opportunity to do a runner, leaving his pal to take the rap and face prison time.
But when tempers between the pair, in present day, unfolded on the street, Lisa was able to step in and ordered Kit to go with her back to the flat she shares with girlfriend Carla Connor.
Once inside, she ordered him to sit down and when he tried it with the smart backchat, Lisa made it clear she wasn’t standing for it and wanted answers as to what he was playing out. But Kit played it down, saying he saw red because Mick made a comment about new love interest Sarah Platt, and denied, when asked, he had something on him.

And the scenes quickly got Corrie fans talking on social media. @swarlanations commented: “It’s lovely to see Swain taking charge and being the Boss B**ch she truly is. I can look past Kit calling her ‘Lisa’ (she’s your superior, my love) because I find their relationship quite endearing #Corrie.”
@TheConnorSwains wrote: “There’s something extremely gratifying about DS Swain finally being able to turn the tables on Kit! Now I need to see her interview him over Craig’s death. #Corrie #CoronationStreet.” @gretaglls posted: “lisa finally bossing around kit i have been waiting for this.”
Others think they have got the measure of the pair’s relationship. @missmollybruton said: “I can absolutely see Kit and Lisa falling more into that brother/sister relationship that Vicky and Jacob talk about.”
@TheConnorSwains shared: “t’s definitely giving more sibling vibes. He tries to shaft her at every opportunity but she has his back even though he’s still a dick to her! That’s the measure of her as a person, rather than a copper.” Alongside pictures of the scenes in question, @Iris28503549 added: “Brother and sister x #Swarla.”
It comes after Jacob told the Manchester Evening News and other press of his and Vicky’s on-screen partnership: “Me and Vicky have been saying it’s like brother and sister. We just had a scene this morning and we sounded like kids towards each other but it’s been a good relationship because they both have soft sides towards each other.
“But there also is that rivalry as well. He does want to be top dog and she knows that. She wants to put him in his place, he thinks she’s better than her, she thinks she’s better than him and there’s all that to play off. It’s been good.”
