Bobby Crawford was seen deciding to leave Weatherfield to reunite with a pal not seen for a while on the cobbles

Coronation Street fans think they have ‘worked out’ an unexpected return to Weatherfield after a dose of heartbreak led to a sad exit this week.

Viewers of the ITV soap will recall that Bobby Crawford arrived in Weatherfield early last year and following his arrival, they discovered that Bobby is the son of Carla’s brother Rob Donovan.

He ended up being taken, at first reluctantly, under the wing of his aunt, Carla Connor, but found himself out of her favour when he brought her jailbird brother back into their lives, which ended in an armed siege.

Bobby hasn’t been seen around as much as the dust settled on the horrifying incident. But he was recently back and there to support Lauren Bolton as she revealed she was being blackmailed after crashing Tracy Barlow’s Preston’s Petals van having originally trying to stop Betsy causing any damage.

Lauren later confessed to Bobby that she took the van and let Betsy take the rap for it and now she is getting mysterious threatening texts, which have continued in recent weeks.

It was during Friday night’s (May 9) Corrie that Lauren decided to take action. When the blackmailer demanded £200 or they’ll report Lauren to the police, she sought Betsy’s help and went on to plant some fake cash in a bin at the Weatherfield Precinct.

The pair then lie in wait to see who turns up to collect the money, with Lauren believing Bobby was behind the messages. But they were shocked to see that it was Gary Windass and Izzy Armstrong’s son Jake was unmasked as the culprit.

It was the during Monday’s (May 12) Corrie that Bobby made a decision to head off to Majorca to visit Simon Barlow, who left Weatherfield last year to go sailing with dad Peter, after he discovered what Lauren had been thinking.

Lauren was forced to confess the truth to Bobby about the blackmail, and the money he’d given her, admitting that she had used his cash to put down a deposit on a flat instead of paying off Jake. Bobby didn’t mind, until Lauren admitted that she had suspected him of being her blackmailer.

Lauren tried to explain herself to a hurt Bobby. But later, when Lauren tried again to apologise, Bobby told her that he was leaving, He was seen getting an advance on his wages from Carla, having decided to head off to Majorca to visit Simon Barlow, who left Weatherfield last year to go sailing with dad Peter.

And some Corrie fans think that Pete could make an unexpected return with Bobby after he left Weatherfield, having ended his relationship with Carla, on Boxing Day 2023.
