Coronation Street and Emmerdale fans are convinced they’ve worked out a huge family connection between two of the soaps’ most iconic characters

Coronation Street enthusiasts are speculating that Lisa Swain’s sister could be an Emmerdale icon, following the thrilling announcement of a one-off special episode merging the two soaps.
In a first for British soap opera history, it was revealed this week that an hour-long episode will bring together characters from both shows in a unique celebration of the genre.
For a single evening, Emmerdale and Coronation Street will intertwine, with each show’s creative teams devising a clever method to connect the two worlds.
After the special episode, the characters will return to their respective beloved soaps. However, ITV hints that “the consequences of the high-stakes drama will have repercussions for both communities and see them linked forever”.

It appears that Corrie’s popular character Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) might be in for a surprising DNA twist involving a cherished Emmerdale legend.
Lisa made her first appearance in 2021 and, as the local police officer, she has been part of several significant events.
From solving murders and incarcerating criminals to becoming a murder suspect herself, Lisa’s stint in Weatherfield has certainly been packed with drama.

Lisa has also found love with Coronation Street legend Carla Connor, played by Alison King, and their relationship is blossoming, with the couple now sharing a home with Lisa’s daughter Betsy, played by Sydney Martin.
Following the announcement of the Coronation Street and Emmerdale crossover, fans have begun speculating that Lisa’s sister could be none other than Emmerdale favourite Vanessa Woodfield, played by Michelle Hardwick.
On a Coronation Street fan page on Facebook, one fan expressed their excitement about the upcoming crossover episode, saying: “I’d love to see someone on Corrie turn out to be related to someone on Emmerdale!” Another fan suggested: “Vanessa and Lisa?” A third fan enthusiastically agreed: “Yes! Sister sister… this would be amazing.”
