Emmerdale star reveals why Kerry could have pushed Joe Tate

Emmerdale star Laura Norton has revealed why her character Kerry Wyatt could have pushed Joe Tate.

This week, it was revealed that Joe was responsible for spiking Noah Dingle, which resulted in the double limo crash on Valentine’s Day. The horrific incident claimed the lives of three people, including Kerry’s daughter Amy Barton (Natalie Ann Jamieson).

Following the revelation, the villain finally received his comeuppance and was pushed out of the window at Home Farm. But with nine suspects in the frame, which one carried out the attack?

Tonight’s episode saw Kerry fleeing the scene of the crime, as Joe laid unconscious on the ground. She was later shown removing something from her bag and hiding it away.

“Kerry definitely has good reason to kill Joe and get revenge,” Norton told the Mirror. “We know she’s a loose cannon and unpredictable. Her daughter was all Kerry had.”

The other crash fatalities included Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough) and Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi), who Kerry tried to save by dragging out of the limo and across the icy lake.

“Roxy is one of my best mates, you know, it was hard dragging her across the ice in those scenes after the crash!” Norton recalled. “It was just genuinely emotional. We sobbed when we found out Roxy was going and Natalie – my on-screen daughter.

“There was one scene where Natalie was supposed to be completely out of it in a hospital bed and I had to come in and hold her and cuddle her – and she was crying her eyes out.”

The star added that the crew told Natalie off for crying during the filming, due to her character being dead.

“But we were just so emotional because you play mother and daughter,” Norton added. “Even weirdly, she feels like my little girl, even though there’s not that massive age gap in real life.”

In addition to Kerry, the eight other possible suspects for Joe Tate’s death include Dawn Fletcher and husband Billy, Clemmie Reed, Caleb, Ruby, Charity, Noah and Cain.
