There have been a lot of BIG storylines up front and centre in Emmerdale this week. But despite the non-stop action and all the drama, there were – as always – some things that just made no sense!
Here are some of the things that have been bothering us in Emmerdale this week.

1 Why was Ruby using the name Fox?
When Ruby and Caleb signed the contract with Kim, Ruby made a point of signing Ruby Miligan, dropping the Fox from her name. It’s a logical step. Of course she wouldn’t want to bear the name of the dad who abused her so brutally. But what we were left wondering was why she’d not got rid of Fox years ago. Perhaps when she married Caleb, all those decades ago?
If it was Steph who’d changed her name in the light of the revelations, it would make total sense. It’s all new information to her. But Ruby’s been carrying this secret for more than 30 years, signing her dad’s name every time she put pen to paper.
We’re glad Ruby’s ditched that part of her name, but it makes absolutely no sense to us that she’s kept it for so long!

2 Sarah has never mentioned wanting a baby
We remember Sarah in Emmerdale being born. We’ve known her a long time. So it was quite a surprise to us when she suddenly announced that she’s desperate to be a mum. Because she’s never mentioned it before.
Even when she thought she was pregnant when she was seeing Noah, she wasn’t massively keen at first. It’s quite a leap to go from being shocked at the possibility of pregnancy to making an appointment with an IVF clinic in the space of a couple of weeks.

3 Steph’s meltdown in the kitchen in Emmerdale this week
We know poor Steph’s had a lot to deal with. It’s can’t be easy finding out your grandad’s actually your dad. We’re totally empathising with the whole plastic surgery thing, her struggle to process the awful news and her pushing everyone away.
But we couldn’t help laughing at her slightly anti-climactic meltdown in the kitchen when she pushed a box of tissues off the counter. Locking herself in the car and threatening to slash her own face with a broken bottle actually made more sense!

4 Gail’s on the way out!
Of course soaps need drama. Of course they do. But they also need humour and sunshine and fun. And lovely Gail Loman in Emmerdale brings all of those things and more.
This week she was on particularly good form, trying to come up with money-making ideas for the pub. But we know she’s only in the spotlight right now because she’ll soon be leaving the village. And that definitely makes no sense to us – she’s such a good character that really hasn’t been made the most of. We’ll be sad to see her go.

5 Tracy hates Nate in Emmerdale this week
Tracy’s had a shocker of a week. Still struggling with Nate’s disappearance, coping with Frankie’s questions about her dad, then turning to theft (again!) in order to make ends meet. But for once we think Cain had a point when he chatted to his daughter-in-law about Nate’s disappearance.
Cain pointed out that abandoning little Frankie wasn’t really the sort of thing Nate would do. He reminded Tracy that Nate’s whole revenge schtick when he first came to the village was due to his belief that his dad had abandoned him. Nate, Cain said, would never do that to Frankie.
But Tracy dismissed Cain’s concerns, which made us think it’s a bit weird she’s been so quick to assume he’s just upped and gone. Nate had his faults but he wasn’t a bad man and yet Tracy has never questioned him acting so horribly.
And while we’re on the subject, why has no one been in touch with his mum, Cara? Why hasn’t Cara been in touch with them if she’s not heard from Nate either. Which she won’t have done because he’s in the lake. It really makes no sense!

Poor Liam’s having panic attacks after being whacked over the head by a mystery attacker (AKA John Sugden). It’s understandable that he’s struggling. At least, it would be, if Liam hadn’t been through so much worse and come out the other side.
His beloved only child Leanna was brutally murdered. Did Liam have a panic attack? Nope. We know panic attacks are unpredictable, but we’re not sure Liam’s reaction totally makes sense!
