Coronation Street’s Lisa caught between Carla and Betsy in explosive row

Coronation Street‘s Lisa Swain finds herself torn between the two most important people in her life next week.

Trouble brews for Lisa when her teenage daughter Betsy stands accused of lying about the injury she sustained in the recent shooting incident.

Carla Connor is first to voice the surprising theory as she spots a tell-tale clue that Betsy is manipulating her loved ones by hiding her recovery.

In a new spoiler clip, Betsy is seen treating Carla like a servant as she relaxes at the flat.

Betsy became injured when she was caught in the crossfire of Rob Donovan’s hostage situation at Ken Barlow’s house.

As Lisa and Rob tussled for the gun, a shot was fired and hit Betsy in the arm.

Betsy was later told that her injury could be life-changing, which left her furious and wanting revenge against all those involved.

Sydney Martin, who plays Betsy, recently explained: “It was a tricky situation for her to wrap her head around, because initially she was thinking about who is to blame, but at the forefront of her mind is that she just wants her mum to put her first and to think about her.

“Lisa’s constantly work-focused and constantly putting herself in situations without thinking about the repercussions. So they’re trying to navigate that relationship around that.

“Lisa went in to protect Carla, and Betsy loves and respects Carla, but at the end of the day she’s Lisa’s daughter. I just think she wants her mum to remember that.

“She’s paralysed in the arm, so she goes back to being a bit younger and her mum really mummies her, and I think Betsy really enjoys that, because she’s getting that one-on-one time with her mum that I think she’s definitely lacked.

“Whereas I think Carla sees it as Betsy needs to grow up a little bit! So I think it causes a bit of a strain in the dynamic between the three of them.”

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Wednesday 30 April on ITV1 and ITVX.
