EastEnders’ Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan-Levy) tries to hide some devastating news from daughter Avani (Aaliyah James) following her recent strip-search ordeal next week.
Last month, the teenager was harrowingly searched at the police station after officers incorrectly believed she was in possession of drugs.
In the aftermath, a traumatised Avani started to go off the rails, smoking weed with her friend Lily Slater (Lillia Turner) and getting mixed up with her dealer.
However, after her mum Priya and dad Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) learned of her behaviour, they encouraged Avani to make an official complaint to the police about her treatment.
After much soul-searching, Avani eventually found the courage to go to the police station and complain.
But in scenes to air next week, Priya gets a call from Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) to tell her the police won’t be taking Avani’s complaint further.
Worried about the devastating effect it could have on her already fragile daughter, Priya decides to keep it from her. Priya then heads to the station to make another complaint, but loses her temper, forcing Callum Highway (Tony Clay) to step in.
Unfortunately, a crushed Avani ends up learning the police aren’t taking her complaint further from Jack’s daughter Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd) and berates her family for keeping it from her.
Priya and Ravi attempt to make amends by inviting Avani for a takeaway and later agree that she can have some friends over.

As they leave the teens and head to Harry’s Barn, a drunk Priya sees red when Callum and his workmates arrive, with another altercation ensuing.
The following morning, word gets back to Avani about her mum’s antics and she is far from impressed – and it is not long before the teen is making another call to her drug dealer…
As Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) and Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) both give Priya some food for thought, will she finally step up to give her struggling daughter the support she so desperately needs?
