Coronation Street unleashes big tensions between Carla Connor and Betsy Swain next week, as Betsy stands accused of lying about her injury.
When Betsy refuses to return to college, Carla reckons that she’s tricking her mum Lisa – and her suspicions rise when the detective vows to take time off work to look after Betsy.
“Carla’s no fool. Although she and Betsy have a close bond now, she knows exactly how wily she can be and won’t stand for her lies,” our Corrie source tells us.
“However, Lisa is still wracked with guilt for shooting her daughter, so will go along with whatever Betsy says to strengthen their relationship right now.”
Carla’s frustrations are pushed to the limits when she’s left to look after the teen at the flat.
After making her some lunch, Carla is shocked when Betsy uses both hands to pick up the pepper mill and grind it over the pasta.
“This act totally confirms Carla’s hunch and cements it as more than a gut feeling,” our insider adds.
“When she confronts Betsy about it, Betsy totally overreacts and sends her lunch flying, just as Lisa walks through the door.”
Later, Carla can’t help but take a swipe at Betsy for faking her injury, which Lisa lets slide.
However, Lisa is forced to give her opinion when furious Tracy McDonald demands payment for the damage Betsy caused to her Preston’s Petals van.
This week’s episodes see Betsy take revenge on Tracy for her role in the Rob Donovan saga by destroying the contents of her work vehicle, which is then involved in a crash.
Carla also puts her foot down and insists that Betsy should contribute. Will Lisa side with her lover, or support her scheming daughter?

Betsy’s new storyline began last month, as she was caught in the crossfire of Rob’s high-stakes hostage situation at Ken Barlow’s house.
After being accidentally shot amid Lisa and Rob’s tussle for the gun, Betsy was told that her injuries could be permanent.
Coronation Street airs these scenes on Wednesday 30 April and Friday 2 May on ITV1 and ITVX.
