Distressing Discoveries
Phil is taken aback by a troubling revelation regarding the ailing Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley) in the upcoming week.
An Easter egg hunt is taking place in Albert Square, motivating Nigel to break free from Phil’s excessive protectiveness and demonstrate his capabilities.
When Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) encourages Nigel to don the Easter Bunny costume, things start off smoothly.
However, a misunderstanding occurs when Nigel mistakenly identifies young Hope Fowler (Isabelle Smith) as Clare Bates (Gemma Bissix), leading to a confrontation with Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman).
This dispute prompts Harvey, Jean Slater (Gillian Wright), and Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) to confront Phil about Nigel’s condition, ultimately leading Phil to disclose Nigel’s dementia diagnosis.
Phil Discovers Nigel Wants To End His Own Life
At home, Phil stumbles upon Nigel’s plan to take his own life if his memory worsens; when Nigel attempts to share his thoughts with Phil, he shuts him down and walks away.
Meanwhile, Jean and Nigel share a heartfelt conversation about his condition, but Nigel chooses not to reveal what Phil has learned. Phil then visits Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), who motivates him to stand by Nigel during this challenging time.
Feeling uplifted by their discussion, Phil returns home determined to reconcile with Nigel. However, he is alarmed to discover a farewell letter from Nigel, who is preparing to leave Walford.
Phil Thinks Better Of His Actions, And Goes On A Search For Nigel
Phil sets out to find his troubled friend, but he feels anxious when Yolande and Jean inform him that they haven’t seen Nigel.
Linda joins the search and tries to talk sense into Phil as they eventually locate Nigel; after a heartfelt reconciliation, Nigel hesitantly agrees to go home.
However, he breaks down, insisting that he wants to end his life before dementia takes over-despite Phil’s attempts to change his mind, he struggles to make an impact.
Then, Yolande offers Phil a new perspective, inspiring him to devise a plan, but the question remains: will Nigel reconsider his intentions?
As the week draws to a close, Nigel feels overwhelmed by Phil’s intense care, leading Phil to inform Kathy Cotton (Gillian Taylforth) that Nigel can no longer work at the café.
Murderer’s Panic
At the same time, Nicola is in turmoil as her secret comes dangerously close to being revealed.
Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian) attempts to take a discreet call from Junior Knight (Micah Balfour) regarding their project, but Nicola overhears the conversation, forcing Teddy to come clean.
Nicola urgently begs Teddy to withdraw from the business deal, but he stands firm, later bringing Ross Marshall (Alex Walkinshaw) on board for the construction.
Nicola is soon taken aback when she learns the site’s location – the very spot where Shireen Bashar (uncredited actress), whom Nicola is responsible for killing, is buried!
In a state of panic, Nicola hears Teddy announce that construction is set to start this week, prompting her to call hitman Benji (Carl Prekopp) to meet at Harry’s Barn.
Nicola Tries To Hire Ravi Gulati For A Nefarious Job
With no alternatives left, Nicola approaches Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) with a job opportunity. The following day, Teddy, Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway), and Barney Mitchell (Lewis Bridgeman) go all out to celebrate Nicola’s birthday, but she remains preoccupied.
She calls Ravi to Walford East, proposing a £10k job-likely to dig up Shireen’s corpse and rebury it elsewhere or dispose of it.
Meanwhile, at The Arches, Nicola deceives Harry and successfully arranges to borrow a customer’s van for the task. However, will she be able to keep her secret safe-and will Ravi agree to the task?
Lonely Teenager
Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy) urges Avani to connect with her friends, but it’s evident they are steering clear of her as her messages go unanswered. At McKlunky’s, Priya convinces Avani to join Barney for lunch, leading to reconciliation between the teens.
Meanwhile, Barney leaves Zack Hudson (James Farrar) feeling downcast after he declines assistance with Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall) and Joel Marshall (Max Murray), causing Zack’s situation to deteriorate further.
With Zack still silent about being Barney’s biological father, what will unfold next; later, Barney becomes anxious when Avani agrees to attend Nicola’s birthday party-will everything turn out alright?
A Big Decision
Also, Kojo is determined to be his own man, as Teddy gives the Knights an update on The Vic rebuild. But it’s clear that Kojo isn’t thrilled at the prospect of moving back there, and he later expresses his wish to live alone.
George Knight (Colin Salmon) isn’t convinced, despite persuasion from daughter Gina Knight (Francesca Henry).
Kojo is determined to prove himself, and soon lands himself a trial shift at The Arches with Harry, and happily, things go well. Kojo bags a permanent job and an invite to Nicola’s birthday bash, but will George be able to accept that Kojo wants to be independent?
