Jared Padalecki Joins Fire Country Season 3, Could Lead to Spinoff

Per Deadline, Padalecki’s role in Fire Country will include a three-episode arc. He’ll be playing a character named Camden, described as a “SoCal firefighter and maverick with a surfer swagger who is a force to be reckoned with and immediately recognizes Bode’s (Max Thieriot) raw talent.” While Padalecki’s deal with CBS Studios is for three episodes, it’s reported that his character could possibly be branched out as the star of a spinoff series. If that idea comes to fruition, it would be the second Fire Country spinoff following the Morena Baccarin-led series Sheriff Country, which will premiere in 2025.

Padalecki had recently been starring as the titular character in Walker, a Walker, Texas Ranger reboot series. The show was canceled in May after four seasons, leaving Padalecki’s future as an actor uncertain. Of course, he is perhaps best known for his role in Supernatural after starring in the hit sci-fi series for 15 seasons alongside Jensen Ackles. Padalecki has been teasing that a Supernatural revival will be happening, but it’s unclear when that might be.

There are also tentative plans for Padalecki to be a part of the fifth and final season of The Boys, which would reunite him with Ackles. Padalecki has said he’s ready and willing to join the series as soon as he gets the call from showrunner Eric Kripke, who created Supernatural. It could be a while before that casting comes to be, however, as writing on the final season of the hit Prime Video series isn’t expected to start until early 2025.

“He and I have talked about what it could look like. It’s not written yet. He said it wouldn’t really be until 2025. We wouldn’t shoot until probably January-ish,” Padalecki previously told TVLine. “[I’m game to] go play in the playground [of] the guy who created Sam Winchester. I’ve had good times in his playground, so I’m happy to do it again.”

Kripke also teased to Screen Rant, “I would love Jared to come in and do a guest spot on the show. Not just because it’s fun to bring Supernatural characters onto the show, but just because I love working with people I love and if I have an opportunity to bring family back and work with family, I’ll take it and I have a lot of actors from that show who have really become family.”

It’s not yet clear which days the Fire Country episodes featuring Padalecki will air.
