Emmerdale fans believe they’ve pieced together the puzzle of Aidan Moore’s destiny in the soap.

In a recent plot twist, John Sugden was seen visiting an unidentified man in a coma at the hospital. In Thursday’s episode, it was revealed that the unconscious patient was none other than Aidan.

Aidan might ring a bell for viewers from last year when Victoria Sugden stumbled upon dog tags bearing his name.

John had previously painted a picture of Aidan as a fallen army comrade who lost his life after their base was bombed, expressing regret that he couldn’t save his close friend.

However, with recent developments unveiling a string of hidden secrets John has been harbouring, it appears he may have been spinning tales about Aidan’s fate, reports Leicestershire Live.

In Thursday’s episode, John crossed paths with a woman named Kathleen at the bedside of the comatose man. As they shared memories, Kathleen voiced her hope that the mystery man would soon regain consciousness and could hear their conversation.

Alone with the patient, John addressed him as Aidan, confirming his identity. He made a chilling comment: “Your mum still thinks you might come out of this, bless her, as if that’s going to happen… you’re stuck, locked in for eternity”, admitting that despite his best efforts to save him, seeing him in the hospital was taking a toll on his mental health.

The plot took another turn as John hinted at a previous romantic involvement, revealing: “I’ve met someone, it’s serious, we’re in love”, as he filled Aidan in on his fiancé, Aaron Dingle.

John expressed: “Aaron’s a good person, he loves me, he tells me how much all the time. That wasn’t your style, was it? You never let me forget I was second best.

“Looking back, you were always on the lookout for someone or something better, and that messed with my head. I never felt I was enough until now because Aaron’s different.

“He sees me in a way you never did and he makes me feel like I matter. I love him for that. So this is goodbye, I won’t come here again, it wouldn’t be fair to Aaron or to you… be happy for me, Aidan.”

Soap fans are speculating that Aidan will emerge from his coma and make a dramatic appearance at John’s wedding to Aaron in a shocking twist.

Viewers suspect Aidan is John’s husband and could wake up just in time to crash his wedding to Aaron. One person said: “I think it’s johns husband” to which a different account wrote: “yes and that’s probably why he needs Aiden dead,so he can marry Aarron…what you betting Aiden wakes up…his mother’s already hinted at that happening!”
