Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has been defended by his soap and new co-stars as he risked an early exit from the Celebrity Big Brother house.

The actor, who is famed for playing David Platt in the ITV soap, was among the first of the new housemates to find them up for the axe in the first public vote.

Jack was given eight nominations while former Tory MP Sir Michael Fabricant received seven and Mickey Rourke was given the killer nomination from pop singer and former Dance Moms star JoJo Siwa which automatically put him up for eviction.

The news of Jack being up for the first evicition came as a surprise to many and his Corrie co-stars were quick to rally for votes to keep him in.

Tina O’Brien, who plays Jack’s on-screen sister Sarah Platt, shared a snap of the pair on her Instagram Story and said: “Vote to save @jackpshepherd88 @celebbigbrother. I love him to bits, not that I’d ever tell him that. Vote for Jack!”

Samia Longchambon, who is famed for playing Corrie’s Maria Windass, also shared a snap of the pair on Instagram and said: “Didn’t think I’d be posting this just yet but drop a vote for our @jackpshepherd88 to stay in the @bbuk house a bit longer please guys… We definitely haven’t seen the best of him yet!!”

Luckily, Jack survived the public vote and his continued his time in the famous compound. And a number of people have continued to speak out in his support.

Michael, who lost his place on the show to Jack and Mickey, took to X, formerly known as Twitter, and said: “Reading some bad things about Jack. #CBBUK He is NOT boring. Far from it.

“He is thoughtful and quiet. And talking to him, one to one, he is full of interesting stories and analyses – as are many of the others. But he laughs at all my jokes. (Which is a BIG plus).”

Meanwhile, Sally Ann Matthews, who plays Corrie’s Jenny Connor, added her own thoughts as she tuned into the latest episode on Sunday night (April 13).
