Emmerdale viewers were left reeling after the truth about John Sugden, portrayed by Oliver Farnworth, was finally revealed to viewers in an explosive hour long episode on Thursday evening.
In a series of chilling flashback scenes, it was confirmed that John was indeed the murderer of Nate Robinson, and the reasons behind his actions were unveiled in a tragic twist.
But the revelations didn’t stop there, as a host of other secrets from John’s past were brought to light, including some disturbing criminal activities. It appears he has managed to deceive everyone, with a significant new development related to his history emerging.
John seems to be intentionally placing people in grave danger so that he can rescue them and play the hero. However, according to the flashbacks, this plan backfired, resulting in Nate’s death, reports the Mirror.

Adding to the intrigue is the unidentified man in the hospital bed whom John visited this week, suggesting he may have also been a victim of John’s actions. But what exactly has John done, and have all his deeds been uncovered?
There might be a crime we’re not yet aware of. The flashbacks featured a specific attack twice, hinting at its connection to John’s saviour complex and the numerous situations he’s manipulated.
This wasn’t initially suspected, especially since it involved his current fiancé Aaron Dingle. Fans will recall that Aaron was embroiled in illegal fighting back in September, with Billy Fletcher and Ross Barton participating in matches.
Aaron sought medical assistance from John to mitigate any risks. However, an event at the farm was abruptly stopped when John reported them all to the police.
In a shocking turn of events, Aaron was suddenly attacked and left seriously injured. John immediately sprang into action to save him, revealing that Aaron’s lung had collapsed during the incident.
John reassured everyone that Aaron would recover after he administered quick treatment at the farm. He informed Mack that Aaron would be fine thanks to his intervention, but did John have a hand in orchestrating the attack?
Something about the way John recounted this memory during Thursday’s episode and his reaction to it suggested he might have been involved in the attack with the intention of saving Aaron, although this remains unclear. Aaron isn’t the only one who has been ‘saved’ by John, as highlighted by villagers in the latest episode.
The true extent of John’s actions were revealed as his full list of crimes came to light. He drugged Chas, sent emails cancelling her wedding, threw a brick through her pub window, and harassed her and Liam while framing Ella for all of it.
He also induced Jacob’s allergic reaction, knowing he was allergic to nuts, in order to save his life when Jacob’s pen went missing. He saved Ruby and Moira’s lives during the barn fire, although he didn’t start the fire, he delayed helping them when Moira fired the gun.
However, his most serious crime is the murder and cover-up of Nate, which was revealed in his final scenes aired tonight. We saw him inject Nate with something but before he could seemingly reverse it, Nate died.
