Coronation Street favourites Ben Price and Colson Smith have expressed their disappointment after witnessing their pal Jack P Shepherd’s heartbreaking Celebrity Big Brother moment
Jack, along with former Tory MP Michael Fabricant and Hollywood actor Mickey Rourke, faced the first public vote of the series on Friday. Mickey had drawn criticism earlier in the week after make cruel digs at fellow housemate JoJo Siwa’s sexuality.
The Wrestler star was given a formal warning by Big Brother, but fans had called for him to be removed from the house. However, on Friday night, it was politician Michael who was the first to get the boot from the public.
Ben, known for his role as Nick Tilsley, and Colson, who played Craig Tinker, shared on their On the Sofa podcast that they were somewhat “sad” seeing their friend up for nomination. Ben expressed a desire to just see Jack and “have a laugh” with him to lighten the mood, reports Plymouth Live.

Ben said: “It just felt like I saw my mate look a bit upset really, a bit sad, and, do you know what? I just felt like knocking on the door and going, ‘Let’s just have an hour, let’s just p*** about’. Let’s just have a laugh, do the podcast together, and then you can go back to the house.”
During their conversation, Ben questioned Colson on whether he thought Jack might feel “isolated” in the Big Brother environment. Colson responded: “For starters, I feel a bit gutted and deflated having seen Jack and his reaction and knowing what life is like in the house, it really would take its toll on you.
“I had the moment with Levi when he called me boring, and to me it felt like, in that moment, a little thing like that felt like the world had caved in because of the dynamic. Being up for nomination, you can’t put your finger on who, what, when.”
Colson also expressed how housemates are left feeling “gutted” upon receiving a nomination, saying: “As a person whose nominated, you feel so s*** because the game is b****** and backstabbing.
“You sit in that diary room, you say what you have to say to Big Brother and then go and act like nothing’s happened. I nominated Lauren Simon every time, and I only did it because Lauren couldn’t understand my name was Colson.”
After leaving Coronation Street following a 14-year tenure, Colson participated in the 2024 series of Celebrity Big Brother, where he secured third place, coming in after Strictly Come Dancing’s Nikita Kuzmin and the winner, David Potts from Ibiza Weekender.
Celebrity Big Brother is set to air again at 10pm on ITV One tomorrow night (April 13), with all previous episodes available on ITVX.
