As Steph fears Anthony is still alive ‘clues’ John is keeping him hostage after saving his life

Emmerdale fans have been left wondering is Anthony alive after tonight’s episode. And it seems many think he may actually be.

Tonight’s episode (April 11) saw Steph breakdown over her appearance as she continues to struggle over the truth about Anthony. And while Aaron tried to comfort her, things didn’t go well.

She took off towards the woods. But Joe Tate found her after she had a fall, and brought her to the depot. But by the time she got home with Ruby and Caleb, there was a sinister special delivery.

Is Anthony alive in Emmerdale?

At the end of the episode, flowers were delivered to Steph, Ruby and Caleb – from Anthony. Up until now, they had been believing that John buried him in the woods. But a bunch of flowers, with a note that says “I’m coming for you” tells a completely different story.

Caleb and Ruby tried to play it off as someone’s idea of a joke, but Steph didn’t believe them. It dawned on her that none of them had actually seen Anthony’s body buried – they just took John’s word for it.

And viewers recently learned that John is not someone anyone can trust. He is responsible for Nate’s death and for everything that Ella was accused off. Not to mention, there is still the mysterious man in a coma that he visits.

With fans now aware that John likes to play the hero, when he was getting rid of Anthony’s body, did he actually bring him back to life? And if so, where exactly is he now? Fans are convinced this is what has happened.

One main theory is that John actually has Anthony held hostage. And is keeping him out of the village. And the flowers that were sent are a very big clue that is the case.

If Anthony truly did stop breathing, by doing CPR and bringing him back, John would be the hero again. Only this time, nobody would really appreciate it as they all wanted rid of the vile man.

So to be able to control the narrative, John may have fake buried him in the woods, hoping everyone would just believe him.

Taking to a Reddit thread, fans discussed the potential storyline. One wrote: “Given that John or whoever he is seems to be suffering from Hero Syndrome, dare I suggest the biggest twist. Ruby believes she killed her dad and everyone thinks John disposed of the body. But could it be that John used his medical skills to help Anthony recover? Judging by next week’s spoilers, I don’t think he is actually buried there!”

Another backed it up, adding more reasons why it seems plausible. They said: “There are good reasons. If Anthony were dead then both Aaron and Ruby would implicated and potentially sent to jail. And I can’t see either of their characters being sacked anytime soon.”

If Anthony is alive, then Emmerdale is about to reveal that John may be much more sinister than anyone realises.
