Former Emmerdale star Jurell Carter has responded to the soap’s latest twist, which finally revealed how his character Nate Robinson died.
Last night’s episode of the ITV soap showed a flashback scene where Nate, having been battered by his dad Cain, comes across former army medic John Sugden.
Viewers learned in the episode that John has a hero complex and craves the attention and adoration from saving people from near-death situations, and has even gone as far as engineering incidents where he can swoop in and play the saviour.
Although John wasn’t responsible for Nate’s injuries, he decided to try and play hero by administering Nate some drugs, claiming they will ease his pain.
Although Nate said he didn’t need them, John injected him anyway and Nate suffered a nasty reaction and died. To cover up what happened, John disposed of his body, which was seen in the frozen lake.
After the episode aired, Carter shared the scene to his Instagram Stories and wrote a five-word response: “Justice for my boy Nate.”
After leaving Emmerdale, Carter landed a role in the UK tour of Boys from the Blackstuff, which tells the story of five working-class men struggling with unemployment in 1980s Liverpool.
Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy to promote the tour – which runs until early July – Carter talked about getting used to theatre acting, his Scouse accent, which Emmerdale co-stars have come to see the show, and whether he regrets leaving the soap.
