Coronation Street star Colson Smith responds to Celebrity Big Brother fans demanding ‘more’ Jack P Shepherd

Coronation Street star Colson Smith has responded to Celebrity Big Brother fans demanding ‘more’ Jack P Shepherd on the ITV programme.

After reaching the final last year, in a season that was won by David Potts, Colson’s On the Sofa co-host and Corrie co-star Jack is among this year’s crop of housemates.

Joining the show as David Platt when he was just 12-years-old in 2000, Jack has been a Corrie mainstay for 25 years.

Despite fans being delighted to see Jack on Celebrity Big Brother after months of rumours, he was not seen much in the opening two episodes.

Viewers took to X, previously known as Twitter in their droves, to question what he’s been up to in the house that also boasts JoJo Siwa, EastEnders’ Patsy Palmer and former Oscar nominee Mickey Rourke.

@mikepriestley13 said: “We need more Jack, Angelica and Donna scenes #CBBUK.” @HFrench92798: added: “We need jack to thaw out so his inner demon named david can let loose #CBBUK.”

Appearing on Wednesday’s (April 9) edition of Good Morning Britain, Colson was asked by Ranvir Singh why ‘we haven’t seen a huge amount of him at the moment’.

Colson replied: “We’ve not, no, we’ve not yet!” Then I sat and watched the live stream, he was quite active on the live stream, so I was like: ‘Okay, so he is talking, he is having some fun!’.”

Ed Balls then quizzed Colson on if he provided Jack with any advice about taking part in the programme, which he did but feels it won’t be listened to.

He explained: “I’ve given him plenty of advice to be fair. The main one was to go in and enjoy yourself, because you only get to do a show like this once, so go and make the most of it.

“I did tell him to make sure he gets a bed, but he was the last one into the bedroom last night, so I don’t think he’s even listening!”

Colson added: “I’ve told him he’s got third to beat, that’s what I’ve said. Don’t come back to the podcast unless you beat third, basically.”

Sadly for Corrie fans, popular actor Colson has left the role of Craig Tinker after 14 years, with his exit scenes to air in the coming weeks.

“I’ve been gone three weeks now, I’ll always feel emotional. I will always miss the place. It was my home. It was my family. Those people, they helped me grow up.

“It’s very different having done something for 14 years to now know that you’re not doing it anymore, and I’m excited to go out and have some fun. I’m excited, It feels like a new chapter of my life starting,” he said.
