After Fire Country Season 3, Episode 16, I No Longer Want Bode To Be A Firefighter

After the wildfire in Fire Country season 3, episode 8 almost cost Bode and Audrey’s lives because of how long it took Bode to admit he couldn’t keep his promise and save a house, his experiences as a firefighter only got worse. Indeed, losing his first patient in Fire Country season 3, episode 12 showed why Bode is bad at firefighting, and meeting the coach of his teenage years aggravated him even more, especially as Coach Kimbro handed Bode drugs. Investigating Wes Fox’s attempted murder in Fire Country season 3, episode 16 instead let Bode’s detecting skills shine alongside Mickey’s.

Bode & Mickey’s Investigation Showed How Good They Are Together

Mickey & Bode’s Time Together Proved Their Bond Is Worth Exploring

Fire Country season 3, episode 16 letting Bode briefly hang his firefighting helmet to put on the investigator one was a breath of fresh air for how it showed Bode being completely at ease while trying to discover who really had tried killing Wes. Fire Country season 3, episode 16 evidently set up the upcoming Fire Country spinoff Sheriff Country by focusing on Sharon and Mickey’s bond, but also Wes and Mickey’s, and in doing so it presented Mickey and Bode as successful investigators together, no matter how Mickey opposed his involvement because Bode wasn’t a detective.

Apart from being exceptionally successful in finding Wes, saving him and arresting his right-hand man, Mickey and Bode fighting criminals together highlighted how similar they were and how their thought processes followed the same steps, making Bode an exceptional detective should he decide to switch jobs. Given firefighting’s importance in Bode’s life, it’s unlikely he will ever leave it for something else. Still, Bode and Mickey spending time together to investigate also showed another side of Bode, one focused on doing right by his family, as Bode’s analysis of Sky’s situation proved.

How Sheriff Country Can Still Include Bode While Focusing On The Fox Family

Bode Could Still Appear In The Fire Country Spinoff

Billy Burke as Vince, Jeff Fahey as Walter, Max Thieriot as Bode and Diane Farr as Sharon in Fire Country season 3, episode 12

Between firefighting being central to Bode’s life and Vince mentioning more than once how Station 42 is Bode’s birthright, it’s unlikely Bode will ever leave Cal Fire to join his aunt at the Sheriff’s office. This makes it more difficult for Bode to be as present in Sheriff Country as he is in Fire Country. However, Sheriff Country can still include Bode in a key role.

News about Sheriff Country already revealed how Sharon and Mickey’s bond will be central in the spinoff. With Bode being Sharon’s son and the importance of family being underlined throughout Fire Country season 3, episode 16, it’s likely Bode will be part of Sheriff Country in a smaller role, appearing in the crossover episodes or helping Mickey support Sky in her time of need. Hopefully, this can inspire Fire Country and Sheriff Country to make the most of their characters participating in the crossovers, doing their best to let the two shows feel cohesive.
