Emmerdale fans are convinced that the soap is set to bid farewell to a beloved character, as they believe they’ve deduced whose grave Cain Dingle pays a visit to.
Last year, the show featured several flashforwards, offering audiences a glimpse into what 2025 might hold. These included scenes of Mackenzie Boyd (played by Lawrence Robb) in a frantic dash through the woods, seemingly on the run from someone.
Caleb Miligan (portrayed by William Ash) was also depicted in a precarious situation, flatlining in a hospital bed. Iconic character Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) had his own flashforward scene as well.
He was shown standing beside a newly dug grave, suggesting a funeral had recently taken place. Cain is seen donned in a suit, having attended the service, and shedding tears at the graveside.
Recently, one of the flashforwards showing a hand beneath the ice was broadcast – following the limousine crash that led to three fatalities: Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough), Amy Barton (Natalie Ann Jamieson) and Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi), reports Leeds Live.
While many speculated that Cain’s flashforward would coincide with Amy’s funeral, her funeral occurred last week and it wasn’t depicted on screen. Now, fans are certain another soap favourite is about to meet their end – and this is the person whose grave Cain visits.
Sharing their theories online, viewers suggest it could be Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill). Sarah, who battles with the life-threatening condition Fanconi anaemia, has faced a tough time recently. Not only did she learn about her pregnancy, but she also suffered a blow when her boyfriend Jacob Gallagher (played by Joe-Warren Plant) broke up with her.
This theory gained traction among the viewers, with one agreeing: “I said the same.” Another added: “Yes definitely feel like it’s Sarah’s grave.” Further anxiety comes from a comment suggesting: “Her health condition could give her a false pregnancy result and that her condition gets worse.”
