EastEnders star Ross Boatman, who plays Harvey Monroe on the soap, has teased Harvey and Kathy Beale’s future amid their upcoming secret kiss.
In scenes that will air next week, Harvey will confide in Kathy after Jean rejects his attempts to help her out. Later, the pair share a passionate kiss after enjoying a picnic at the allotments.
Speaking recently about his on screen relationship with Kathy, Boatman said of Harvey: “He needs a friend as he feels isolated. Kathy needs someone to confide in too as she’s also at a bit of low with all the stuff going on with Cindy.

“Kathy is sympathetic towards Harvey and he picks up on that and it’s nice for him; it gives him a sense of comfort and support.”
Asked if there is something other than friendship on the cards for Kathy and Harvey, Boatman said Harvey has had feelings for Kathy since he arrived in Walford.
“Harvey has always harboured some feelings towards Kathy. She is someone he’s always been rather drawn to since he arrived,” Boatman said.
“He even took her out on a date in the Square for a bag of chips,” he quipped.

“He’s always had a thing for Kathy but he buried that when she got with his best mate [Rocky] and he has a relationship of his own, so whether it goes anywhere or not remains to be seen.”
Opening up about why Harvey feels isolated from Jean and her family, Boatman said Harvey is taking Martin’s death really hard.
“He’s obviously very sympathetic towards the family and he understands their grief is greater than his but it’s hit him hard too,” he said. “And he wants to support them and contribute in some way. At every turn he feels pushed aside; he doesn’t really know which way to turn and everything he does feels wrong.”
