With Emmerdale’s Nate Robinson spotted at the bottom of the same lake that hosted the final moments for some of those involved in the recent limo crash, fans are convinced that the serial killer theory is wrong.
Nate was last seen in the village September last year as actor Jurell Carter made his decision to leave the Dales. When he first made his departure from the ITV soap it was believed that he was moving to Shetland after a new job opportunity arose.
Ever since he left, fans grew suspicious when no one had heard from apart from a short text to Tracy that told her he had arrived safely. Things seemed to go quiet on the Nate front until recently when Amy Wyatt made a haunting discovery in the lake.
On Monday’s (February 17) episode, Amy ended up underneath the water as she fell through the ice after the limo crash. As she was struggling to reach the surface she saw the body of Nate floating, confirmed by the bracelet on his wrist being the same one he was wearing on the day of his exit.
Unfortunately, it’s a secret that Amy will take to the grave as she dies in hospital before she was able to tell anyone what she saw, even though she tried to inform her husband Matty.

Before his death was confirmed, fans were already certain that the Dales had a “secret serial killer” in the form of ex-military villager John Sugden. Not much is known about John and his mysterious nature led to viewers questioning whether he’s hiding something big.
These suspicions developed further after John coolly removed Anthony Fox’s dead body from the crime scene and promised to get rid of any evidence.
While this theory of a serial killer has been circulating for some time, a few fans are convinced that this is a red herring. Apart from adding Caleb Miligan to the suspect list due to his history with Nate, there have been varying ideas of who the culprit could be – with Moira Dingle added to the mix.

Moira underwent life-changing brain surgery after being diagnosed with meningioma(Image: ITV)
Moira was diagnosed with a brain tumour called meningioma in September last year – around the time Nate “left” – and suffered from spells of confusion, memory loss and seizures.
On a Reddit thread, u/Fun_Arm_446 wrote: “they’ve done the serial killer line too many times now” as they agreed with another fan who didn’t think the John theory was plausible.
Making suggestions on a different thread, u/sb0u2122 added: “I could be way off with the timing and remembering everything but my Missus just said she really thinks it was Moira who accidentally shot Nate and John volunteered to dispose the body only Moira has no recollection….”
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), @UDjoking agreed: “Assuming that the body Amy saw in the lake is Nate, what if Moira killed him accidentally during the barn fire last year, and Cain covered it up and that’s whose grave we saw him crying by in the new year preview bc the truth will out now.”
@rednwhite99 penned: “What if it was Mack who disposed of Nate, supposing Nate died in the barn fire and Mack found him and to protect Moira who caused the fire he got rid of the body and this is what Mack was running from in the flash forward”.
