EastEnders has released new pictures which reveal the alternative ending to last night’s exciting live episode.
During this week’s 40th anniversary celebrations, viewers were invited to have their say in a groundbreaking interactive storyline surrounding Denise Fox’s love life.
In the culmination of a love triangle that has played out on screen over the last few months, the decision as to whether Denise would choose to pursue a relationship with Jack or Ravi was put in the hands of the public.
The vote closed 20 minutes before the start of the live episode, and executive producer Chris Clenshaw informed the cast of the result which was then performed on screen.
It was revealed that the public had voted for Jack, and Denise arrived on his doorstep to confess her love, as a disappointed Ravi watched on.
While the viewers made their choice, the cast and crew rehearsed both outcomes to prepare for the big night, and the BBC soap has shared dress rehearsal images from the scenes that will never be seen.
In the pictures, Denise goes to see Ravi and the couple share a passionate kiss before embracing on the sofa – giving fans an idea of what would have unfolded if the vote had gone the other way.
After the dramatic episode, which also saw the death of iconic character Martin Fowler, actor Diane Parish posted on Instagram, sharing her thoughts on the chosen outcome and teasing what is ahead for Denise and Jack.
She wrote: “Back together again. Don’t predict ‘boring’. Expect DRAMA. Cos that is what we do @bbceastenders.
“Very bittersweet as evenings go, a devastating end, hope everyone is ok – but I’m happy to be back behind the pink door with my old mucker @mrscottmaslen and sadness not to be continuing the spicy shenanigans with me dear friend @aaronthiara_.”
Paying tribute to her two co-stars, she continued: “You both have been gentlemen, dear friends and light and laughter. Love you. And thank you for voting and watching once again Easties. Back to business.”
