BREAKING NEWS!! Emmerdale star ‘confirms’ sad end for couple: ‘She’s not quite ready’

Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) is certainly happy in her relationship with Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) in Emmerdale – but that doesn’t mean she’s ready to marry him.

The two characters enjoyed a brief fling in 2023 but as Chas was diagnosed with breast cancer not long after, Liam stepped back. He remained a pillar of support, but as a friend rather than anything romantic.

Liam and Chas reunited just before 2024 ended. It meant Liam had to dump Ella Forster (Paula Lane) but now, he’s on Cloud Nine.

The doctor having his head in the clouds is probably what stopped him from really thinking about the proposal this week. As Lucy Pargeter explains here, Chas has only just moved forward following the breakdown in her marriage to Paddy (Dominic Brunt) – it’s a little early to talk wedding dresses just yet!

‘She’s not been out of her marriage for very long. She’s very very quick to jump from relationship to relationship. And I think she’s quite happy the way things are going and that it’s quite slow and it’s quite a slow-burner’, she said.

‘I don’t think she’s either ready or necessarily expecting him to take that next step. I don’t think they’re at that stage. It’s only very, very early days. He’s very eager.’

Liam spent the start of this week trying to plan a romantic proposal to his partner. He faced many challenges in his quest, but just like his murder mystery stories – he was determined get it right.

Liam’s plan didn’t unfold the way he had hoped

After adapting to his new idea, Liam got suited and booted. Two limos arrived in the village with 8 females getting in one vehicle, and 8 males in the other.

They set off but it wasn’t long until disaster struck and Liam’s plan of a memorable evening went out the window. As one limo crashed, it ended up stopping on the top of a frozen lake.

Of all the places!

Teasing the upcoming scenes, which will deal with the aftermath, Lucy said: ‘I’m really excited. I think it’s going to come out the blue. They are a series of episodes that don’t stop. There are so many people involved.

‘There are so many storylines in there and there is so much that happens in every single scene that I’m just hoping that they’ve got their hands on their knickers and that they are ready for a ride!’

She added: ‘It’s not an easy watch. It’s not an easy demise of anybody.

‘No one gets out unscathed one way or another in either this story or the stories that fan out from this event.’
