EastEnders has aired the surprise returns of two classic characters in the show’s latest episode.

With Billy and Honey’s wedding coming up next week, Teddy was determined to pull out all the stops for his brother and organise a great joint ‘Sten-do’ for them.

In today’s episode, Teddy told Sharon that he had a surprise up his sleeve – but Sharon was more concerned that Phil wasn’t answering his calls.

The Square’s residents gathered in The Vic dressed in yellow and black, and when the happy couple arrived, Teddy gave Billy a special gift – a video message from West Ham footballer Jarrod Bowen.

Billy was thrilled, but there was another big surprise in store, as Garry Hobbs and Minty Peterson then arrived to celebrate – with Ricky Groves and Cliff Parisi returning to reprise their iconic roles.

Garry hasn’t been seen in Albert Square since 2009, when he sailed into the sunset with Dawn Swann and her daughter Summer.

Meanwhile, in 2010 Minty’s relationship with Heather Trott ended and he phoned his dear friend Garry, asking if he can stay with him and Dawn for a while.

Everyone was delighted to see the pair back in Walford, who had seen the news online and decided to crash the celebrations.

Garry mysteriously claimed that he now works in media and broadcasting, after his sailing trip ended and he and Dawn split up – so Teddy insisted that he hosts the football quiz he had organised.

The stag team were confident of their chances, but Elaine brought out her ‘secret weapon’ Kojo, whose knowledge led the hens to victory.

Minty told Alfie that he is now married with an ‘adopted’ child who lives in his loft – Garry. Alfie realised Garry had been embellishing the truth and learned that he is now a bingo caller.

As Garry and Minty left after their surprise trip back, Sharon continued to worry about Phil’s mental health – and she got more concerned when she found out that Phil had paid for the whole event.

Sharon organised a search party for Phil, but he had returned to his old house. He answered the door to a younger version of his mum Peggy – with Jaime Winstone returning for tomorrow’s special episode.
