The ITV soap recently delved into Ruby’s traumatic past, revealing that her father, Anthony, sexually abused her during her childhood. Ruby suspects that Anthony may be the biological father of her daughter, Steph, and has arranged a DNA test to determine whether Caleb is the father. While Ruby has confided some of her story to her sister-in-law Chas Dingle, she has not disclosed the distressing details about Anthony’s involvement.

As the week unfolds, Ruby receives the DNA test results but hides them in her handbag when Caleb unexpectedly returns home. She spends the day anxiously contemplating the implications of the results. Although Chas reassures her that Caleb will stand by his family regardless of the outcome, Ruby considers destroying the letter without even looking at it.

The situation intensifies when Caleb searches Ruby’s handbag for painkillers and discovers the envelope containing the results. Beth Cordingly, who portrays Ruby, shared her thoughts on the scene: “She feels like a deer caught in the headlights. Caleb is standing there, and until he reveals the results, she has no idea what they say. It’s an unexploded bomb in his hands—he knows the answer, but no one else does, including her. It’s a deeply emotional moment.”

Cordingly added, “Caleb knows that there’s only one other person involved, her friend Rob, who her dad keeps mentioning. The audience knows Rob is gay, but Ruby never confronted her father about it, which adds another layer to her character.”
