What to Expect With Tarlos’ Final Season on 9-1-1: The Lone Star Finale Season

4 sees a rollercoaster of emotions as Carlos moves in with T.K. for the second time

and the two get married in a beautiful ceremony in front of all their friends and

family. On top of that, Carlos is grieving the loss of his father Gabriel, who was shot and killed by an unknown assailant. The show’s final season will be filled with moments between Tarlos – both good and bad. No marriage is perfect, and that’s exactly what co-showrunner Rashad Raisani wanted to show with Tarlos in season 5, telling TV Insider: “A big part of what I wanted to do with their marriage was I really wanted to treat it like a real marriage, and what I mean by that is that even though these guys are great together and they’re really good looking, life isn’t perfect no matter who you are and everyone has real struggles that affect even great relationships. And the real strength of a relationship isn’t the absence of challenges and problems, but how you grapple with them and deal with them, and whether they make your relationship stronger or weaker.”

Last season, Carlos found out that Gabriel had been investigating an undercover agent with the Texas Rangers, and that weighed heavily on Carlos. Fortunately, T.K. was very supportive and patient with Carlos, and the former allowed the latter to grieve at his own pace. However, we all have to understand that no matter how noble T.K. is, he knows that they both have to move on and live their lives together as a couple eventually. Even though Carlos was very open about not being ready to have children, T.K., who is extremely supportive and respectful of his wishes, felt that maybe having children could be good for both of them, Raisani shared with TV Insider.

“I think that was another pressure point because Carlos was very upfront with T.K. about, ‘Hey, I’m not ready to have kids and I don’t know if I ever will,’ and then now that his father has been murdered, in his headspace, it’s “It’s the last thing that he has the bandwidth or the emotional energy to deal with. But like I said, T.K. is feeling like life is happening right now, like we don’t have any moments again, and especially as a first responder, they’re seeing that you can’t take anything for granted. And circumstances are going to align in a way that [leads to] a situation where T.K. is like, I know that you feel uncomfortable taking this next step as a father, but I feel like it’s something powerful that I need to do, and turn that into a crisis point for them too.”
