Sharon Marshall, a star from This Morning and ex-writer for EastEnders,
hinted at a grand return for the character Mick Carter to the show.
Wowed by some spectacular returns by actors to the soap, she conducted
her own poll to gauge audience opinion. While discussing with Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard, she reflected on monumental comebacks in soaps She specifically expressed interest in finding out which characters fans were eager to see again, with Mick Carter, portrayed by Danny Dyer, emerging as the top choice in her survey.
Viewers vividly remember that chilling Christmas episode of 2022 where Mick vanished into the English Channel following a dire sea accident, reports the Mirror.
His last appearance depicted him saving his former spouses Linda Carter (played by Kellie Bright) and Janine Butcher (portrayed by Charlie Brooks). Although many presumed him dead, the absence of a body has left everyone guessing about his ‘true’ fate.
It was during a celebration of a recent EastEnders returnee that Sharon slipped in the suggestion about Mick’s comeback. She mentioned: “I was looking at Yolande [Trueman] and there have been so many good comebacks, Angela Wynter has just been acing the storyline.”
Addressing the audience, she then said, “We did ask you [the viewers] who you would most like to see,” before posing to Cat and Ben, “Shall I do a top three?”
Cat couldn’t hide her excitement as she responded: “Yeah, what did the viewers say? ” Sharon went on to reveal the characters viewers are desperate to see return, saying, “Number three, they want him to come and help his mum obviously, Adam Barton in Emmerdale.”
“Number two, Grant [Grant Mitchell] in Eastenders,” Sharon continued before announcing the fan-favourite for the top spot. “But the top one Mick Carter, they think he could have held his breath under the waves all that time.”
The former soap opera scriptwriter was astounded by the deluge of responses from viewers, itching for a nostalgic comeback of beloved characters.
Detailing the fervent fan engagement, she explained: “What happened was I just put a few names up there and then people started coming up with their own storylines on who they’d like to see coming back.”
“Michael Adams and Denise Welch, watch this, he wants Natalie Barns back in Corrie,” she declared, expressing bewilderment as she gestured towards Denise Welch at the ITV studio for Loose Women to pay attention.
