Alfie Moon has temporarily left Walford after getting big news in EastEnders.
The Albert Square favourite has been looking for employment ever since he was
recently sacked from the bookie’s office for closing shop early. Alfie had been trying to help the troubled
Tommy Moon, but his employers penalised him for putting his personal life ahead of his work responsibilities.
In Thursday’s (October 3) episode, Alfie had a positive lead when Tommy helped him land an interview for the manager job at the Minute Mart.
However, Alfie was put into an uncomfortable position when teenagers Avani Nandra-Hart and Nugget Gulati showed up to interview him for the job.
Nish Panesar recently decided to amend his will to put grandchildren Avani and Nandra at the head of his family businesses, rather than his son Vinny Panesar due to their falling out.
“Seeing as we’re going to be running things, we’re going to be conducting this interview,” Avani announced. “We’ve got to make sure we ain’t employing no clowns. You feel me?”
The interview went as well as possible but Alfie learned that, if he accepted the Minute Mart job, he’d have to leave Walford to attend a two-week training course in Birmingham.

At the Vic, Alfie told his ex-wife Kat that he would have to turn down the job offer because he didn’t want to leave her alone with Tommy given his recent behavioural issues.
Kat encouraged him to take the job and leave immediately for the training course, adding: “It’s all about a fresh start, yeah?”
She spurred him to “grab life by the horns” given what he’s gone through with his cancer battle over the past year.
Is Alfie making a mistake leaving Tommy alone with Kat?
