Gabriela’s Cliffhanger Resolution May Have Already Been Spoiled Ahead Of Fire Country Season 3’s Return

Following Fire Country season 2’s cliffhanger, many wonder if Gabriela and Diego

will go through with getting married, but their fate (especially Gabriela’s) may have

already been spoiled. The CBS action drama TV series, created by Max Thieriot,

Tony Phelan, and Joan Rater, follows a group of firefighters and paramedics working for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, aka Cal Fire. Gabriela is among the group, alongside Bode, an inmate who volunteers for Cal Fire in Fire Country. However, as of the season 2 finale, Bode is a free man.

At the end of the episode, Bode, who is Gabriela’s ex, walked out of Gabriela and Diego’s wedding to find his uncle, Luke. Luke informed his nephew that he was officially a free man. With this exciting news, Bode declared that his only focus from now on would be becoming a firefighter. So, Fire Country season 3 will feature a revamped Bode, but it will also show if Gabriela and Diego actually get married since the season 2 finale ends before they can say “I do.” Unfortunately, though, the answer to that question may have already been revealed.

Gabriela’s Fire Country Season 3 Arc Suggests She Doesn’t Get Married To Diego
She’s Focusing On Work & Other Relationships

While speaking with TVLine, Fire Country showrunner Tia Napolitano teased Gabriela’s arc in season 3. By reading between the lines, it sounds as if Gabriela doesn’t marry Diego. Napolitano said:

“Gabriela is going to really examine how her family of origin, being Manny and Roberta, affects who she is, and how she views relationship. [Gabriela] is really going to lean into firefighting and succeeding in that area, very hard.”

Of course, the showrunner doesn’t come right out and say that “I do’s” are never shared. However, Napolitano reveals that Gabriela will primarily focus on her relationships with her family members and will immerse herself in her job in season 3. Napolitano suspiciously never mentions Diego, and one would think that, as a newlywed, Gabriela’s story would at least partially center around her new husband.

Whatever the case, it’s looking more and more likely that Diego isn’t the one for Gabriela.

The showrunner’s comment isn’t the only proof that Gabriela doesn’t marry Diego in Fire Country season 3. Season 3’s trailer previews a helicopter crash that interrupts the couple’s nuptials. The first responders rush to help those affected by the nearby crash, and a wedding is the last thing on anyone’s mind. Some worry that this means Diego dies during the premiere, but perhaps Gabriela just gets cold feet and tells her fiancé she can’t marry him in the aftermath of the emergency. Whatever the case, it’s looking more and more likely that Diego isn’t the one for Gabriela.

Gabriela Not Getting Married To Diego Is Better For Fire Country Season 3’s Future
Fire Country’s Love Triangle Is Tired

Although it would be sad, Gabriela not marrying Diego is for the best regarding Fire Country season 3’s story. The love triangle between Gabriela, Diego, and Bode isn’t fun to watch and is more annoying than it’s intriguing. So, if Gabriela and Diego’s wedding happens, the drama between them and Bode will continue in future episodes. Dragging out a love triangle (a trope that is tired to begin with) is frustrating, and Fire Country wouldn’t benefit from doing so. Instead, the series might be more successful if it leaned more into its action roots as opposed to its dramatic origins.

It’s time for Fire Country to end the romance drama and return to firefighting. The action should be one of the CBS show’s main priorities, as it’s not a soap opera, and it excels when its focus is on firefighting. Since Gabriela’s arc will revolve around her concentrating on her job, perhaps season 3 will have learned from Fire Country’s past mistakes.

Gabriela’s Fire Country Season 3 Arc Mirrors Bode’s
Bode Is Also Focusing On Firefighting In Season 3

Bode’s story in Fire Country season 3 will also focus on Cal Fire as he strives to become a full-time firefighter after being released from prison. As a result, Bode and Gabriela’s arcs will mirror one another in the episodes. While both will undoubtedly concentrate on firefighting, it’s almost a guarantee that Fire Country will try to push Bode and Gabriela together (romantically), especially if she doesn’t marry Diego.

The Fire Country season 3 trailer reveals Bode and Gabriela being intimate, informing fans that their romance is far from over. This steamy scene may just be a dream or hallucination, but it’s included in the trailer for a reason. Regardless, the hope is that Fire Country season 3 will prioritize firefighting over romance after either Gabriela and Diego get married or break up.
