Kevin Costner is involved in some real-life drama with his Yellowstone
co-stars that has nothing to do with the drama that goes on in the show’s
popular scenes. What did the legendary actor do to alienate his fellow actors
even away from Dutton Ranch? No matter how much time passes, or how far we get into modern technology as a society, the love for the Old West still remains. There may not be gunslingers like Wyatt Earp or Wild Bill these days, however, the cowboy/rancher lifestyle is still a collective fascination.
There’s a reason why movies like Tombstone or shows like Deadwood are still popular today. In later years, programs like Justified and now, Yellowstone, continue to capitalize on the popularity of bygone times. Yellowstone, in particular, has seen tremendous success in just a few short seasons on the air.
The success of Yellowstone has been good for everyone. Creator Tyler Sheridan gets to tell his story the way he wants. In addition, Cole Hauser has seen his career get something of a second wind, as an entirely new fanbase is now obsessed with him and his portrayal of Rip Wheeler.
Of course, the cherry on top was securing the services of legendary actor Kevin Costner as the Dutton family patriarch. Some of Costner’s most memorable roles are when he has a rifle and a cowboy hat, and this role could not have been better for him.
However, contract disputes have slowed down the fast-moving Yellowstone train, with Kevin Costner deciding not to appear in what is supposed to be the show’s final episodes. Those issues have bled into more than just the legal arena, too.
It sounds cliche to say, but, the Yellowstone cast grew incredibly close over the show’s successful on-air run. Unfortunately, that all changed thanks to Kevin Costner choosing to leave the show. He walked away rather than appearing in the second part of Season 5, which is also the show’s finale.
An insider recently told Life & Style that Costner’s co-stars have “drifted away” from him since he announced his exit from the popular western drama. All of the cast members used to catch up regularly, as they formed a genuine camaraderie from their time filming. However, the insider added that everyone has “cut him loose in the months since he walked away from the show.”
Kevin Costner is “hurt” by the cold shoulder he has been getting. It’ll be worth seeing if fences are mended at some point down the line. No matter the personal differences, Yellowstone is an iconic show that fans and celebrities both enjoy, and there’s no denying that what the actor did in his role as John Dutton is something that people will remember for years.
